This week’s topic: Books I loved but will never re-read

Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon – Jamie and Claire are one of my favorite love stories, but I don’t have the energy to re-read this series. The author has said many times this series is not romance but a historical novel. Boy does she put in a lot of historical facts!  The books are long because of this and there are times I found it interesting, but it does slow the pace of the story. Jamie and Claire have to endure a lot in this series and I can’t go through that again lol. But I can’t wait for the next book and part of me wants this series to end, so I don’t have to see them suffering lol.

Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl – I loved this series for the characters and unique story. But the movie was awful and I can’t get over the disappointment lol.

The Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater – I loved this series but hated the ending. There was no closure and I was hoping she would write more about Grace. The author did release Sinner which featured supporting characters, and it was an ok read for me.

Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer – this series will always have a special place in my heart because it got me to read again. As much as I love this I can’t find myself re-reading this. I’ve seen the movies so many times, I don’t think I would get a new appreciation for reading the books.

Fifty Shades of Grey series by E.L. James – I did not love this series!  But I’m glad I read it.  Everyone was talking about this book (even TV show host Dr. Oz!), so I was curious about it.  Once I finished the first book I had to continue, so I can see Christian have a HEA.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas – this series was long and I was frustrated with Feyre!  I loved Rhysand and his family, and if I had to (or time) I would re-read his parts of the story.  I am looking forward to reading A Court of Frost and Starlight, hoping my favorite characters will be featured.

Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi – I enjoyed this series and I thought it was beautifully written. But Juliette irritated me in the later books.  I have no desire to re-read this series, but I can’t wait to read Restore Me. I’m hoping I won’t be frustrated with Juliette again.

What are the books you would never re-read?

I will always love Twilight, but have no plans (right now) to re-read it lol. Thanks Patricia!

ACOTAR was good but the books were long. I want to finish reading Throne of Glass, but those books are long too lol. Thanks Jo!

  1. The only book I will not read ever is the Fifty Shades series… bleachh! I could not get into Outlander, I did not like the Beautiful Creatures movie, I also will not re-read Twilight. Ughh This book actually turned me off the YA genre for a time.

Shatter Me was good when I first read it, but the writing was so pretentious! I don’t know if I will read the Restore Me.

I usually re-read romances because I always LOVE the ending 🙂

I like to re-read romances too and so far I’ve enjoyed them more the second time around.

  2. Outlander seems like Game of Thrones- really super long! Ha ha that can definitely be a problem re- reading. The Shatter Me series I have thought about reading…

Outlander is like Game of Thrones, but without the killing of my favorite characters (or at least not yet lol). I feel like the series should just end already, while they are all still alive lol.

The Twilight story is still clear in my mind (probably because of the movies) so I don’t think I’ll re-read them. Plus I’m worried I might not like the books since my reading preferences have changed.

The story is still fresh in mind. I guess from watching the movies too many times lol.
