Nook Book Wrap-Up #4

Nook Book Wrap Up is my monthly version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Kim’s Sunday Post is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.  I can’t believe how fast April flew by.  The weather here in Sacramento is still changing from hot to cold and I can’t wait for us to have stable weather. I started wearing my sandals to work and I hope the weather stays warm now.

I had a great reading month and I loved a lot of the books I read. High Voltage by Karen Marie Moning has become one of my all-time favorites. I’m still in my paranormal mood so I also enjoyed Gaslight by Dannika Dark and The Dark Calling by Kresley Cole, their 5-star reviews will be on the blog soon. I also enjoyed re-reading books in Terry Spear’s Heart of the Wolf series. I have been neglecting my ARCs, so I’ll mix up my reading for May with ARCs and books from my TBR.

I’ve been slowly getting back to blogging and I’ve figured out ways to fit in time with my busy schedule. Just when I’m ready to create a post I hit a major roadblock – the Polyvore website shut down, with no notice to users! I used the Polyvore site to create my Book Looks and Mood Boards. I have a long list of book covers I wanted to create a set but they shut down the site. Polyvore was acquired by the online retailer Ssense, whose service is nothing like Polyvore. Polyvore was used to create collages with clothing, cosmetics and home items, but now it’s an online store. They offered to send us our completed sets but we all lost our drafts. I had a lot of drafts that just needed tweaking but now they are all gone! Now I’m searching for a new site to use and there are a couple sites that look promising. On Twitter the alternative sites are listening to the former Polyvore users and making changes to mirror Polyvore. This is a great business move for them while Ssense lost potential customers. My posts were created with a html from the Polyvore site, which I now I have to update with an image file. There are 70 posts I needed to update and it just makes me even madder. I’ve learned the hard way to not rely on html and save what I create on a file.  Here are some of my favorite Book Looks and Mood Boards that I will be working on updating on the blog:

I’ve learned a big lesson from this and once I find a new site I’ll save the collages I create. Thanks Kim!

  1. Oh how frustrating for you with Polyvore. 🙁
I really want to read To Kill a Kingdom! Must also add Dannika Dark to my TBR pile as she gets a lot of positive comments around the blogs.
    Have a good week! 🙂

I hope you get a chance to read Dannika Dark. This is the only series I’ve read from her and I really enjoy it. Thanks Nicci for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  2. Wait! Polyvore shut down?? How did that happen? Is there anything else like it? I haven’t used it in quite some time but I’m distressed! It is crazy how fast this year has gone by and we’re finally getting weather that feels not cold. Normally it’s hot here by this time of year but we’re lucky if it’s in the 70s! Have a great week!

It shut down earlier this month and I just happen to try to log in. The Polyvore site went directly to the new owner and I started panicking. I saw all the Tweets from angry users so I’m hoping the alternative sites work out. So far Shoplook looks promising. Thanks Katherine and I hope you have a great week!

There is one site that looks really promising so I hope it works out. I really enjoyed doing the looks so I’m determined to find something to replace Polyvore lol. Thanks Sam and I hope you have a great week!

  3. I hope your weather settles down, it’s been a late spring here and the weather has just been weird. Sorry to hear about Polyvore- how frustrating! – but glad the paranormal reads are going well. I need to read some urban fantasy this year, I think I’m in the mood for it!

Cool mood boards, love The Young Elites one.
