An aspiring food journalist and a grumpy cameraman take to the California coast for the biggest foodie event of the year in this sweet third novel in Tif Marcelo’s charming and romantic Journey to the Heart series.

Online food blogger Victoria Aquino has spent years doing social media for True North and Paraiso Retreats, and she’s ready to take her blog and writing to the next level. But after she was catfished and suffered a heartbreak, she’s clamoring for change. She auditions for and accepts a food host opportunity: covering the Labor Day holiday BBQ festivals along the California coast. For eight days, she’ll travel with a producer and a camera and sound person, in a vintage—and rickety—RV, and she’ll get her very first byline as a video journalist. The only catch? She can’t stand BBQ.

And the cameraman also auditioned for the job.

Joel Silva is a cameraman with his own past and big dreams of his own, and when he finds out that the job he auditioned for went to Victoria—a woman he’d gotten to know covering Paraiso Retreats, and someone he later slept with—he’s understandably furious and curious. Joel knows the BBQ circuit like the back of his hand, and he now has to help Victoria do her job amidst their growing attraction.

When the producer picks up on their push/pull vibe and increases the ante to feature both in front of the camera with the best host taking the next cross-country feature, the two have to decide: is their blossoming romance something that should be left to fizzle along with BBQ season? Or is it the beginning of something even more delicious?

West Coast Love is another heartwarming romance from author Tif Marcelo.  I loved Victoria and Joel!

Victoria Aquino is an online food blogger and enjoys sharing her love of food. For years she’s helped boost the family businesses with her social media skills, but now Victoria is ready to follow her own dreams. Still healing a broken heart, Victoria seeks a big change and lands a food hosting gig. This new opportunity can launch her career as a video journalist, but there’s a catch – she’ll be covering BBQ festivals, but hates BBQ. Cameraman Joel Silva has spent years behind the camera and is ready to be in the spotlight. But his dreams are put on hold (again) when the job he auditioned for goes to Victoria. Joel and Victoria met while shooting her sisters reality show, Paraiso Retreats. It comes as no surprise that a one-night stand and one of them losing the hosting gig makes this trip awkward. Now faced in a competition to host the next show, can Joel and Victoria find love and follow their dreams? You have to read West Coast Love to find out the delicious details.

In this third book of the Journey to the Heart series I was overwhelmed again with the emotion of the story. As with the previous books, I felt a strong connection with the characters. Victoria and Joel are at a crossroads in their lives. They realize that they need to take chances to follow their dreams and find true love. Experiencing their highs and lows on their journey created genuine characters whom readers can identify with. Their struggles and fears were identical to how I’m feeling now about my career. This series has felt as if the author was speaking to me directly, not just in the message but in the humor. Author Tif Marcelo had me reminisce of my childhood and our camping adventures. Back then the term “glamping” wasn’t yet created, but we lived it with our RV stocked with a mini black and white TV and our rice cooker. Reading Victoria and Joel’s camping adventures made me smile and brought back fun memories.

West Coast Love is the third book of the Journey to the Heart series but it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend you read all the books for they each tell a heartwarming story of love and family. Author Tif Marcelo shows readers the strong bonds Filipino families have. As a Filipina-American this series has been a fun and emotional trip down memory lane. Food plays a big part in this series and it will make your mouth water. But it is also the love poured into the meals that will touch your heart. I can’t wait to read more books from this author.
