Weekly Wrap-Up #136

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

Northern California has been hit with multiple fires. I live in Sacramento and far from the fires but we could smell the smoke and the sky was gray. The fires have left thousands of people homeless and to date 36 people killed but there are still a lot of people missing.  One of the fires was in the Sonoma and Napa area where over 2,000 homes were destroyed and some wineries. This is the first time a fire hit close to our family and friends. On Facebook we heard news they were safe and if they had to evacuate.  Some of the fires have been contained and now stories of survival are being told.  One couple was trapped by the fire and survived for 6 hours in a neighbor’s pool. Here is their incredible story. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected from the fires.

Here is a map of all the fires around us.  The winds have died down so thankfully some of the fires are being contained and our air quality has improved.

How was your week?

Last week’s Outlander episode was one of the best so far this season. Fans finally got a glimpse of the reunion but must wait another week for the next episode.  The next episode is going to be extended (74 minutes) and I can’t wait.

The new Stranger Things season 2 trailer was released on Friday and OMG I can’t wait for this season!

What are you watching?

I hope you have a great week!

  1. OMG! I am getting chills right now just thinking about the end of the last Outlander. FINALLY!!!! I have needed them back together for so long. I am worried about what happened during their time apart, and we have no idea about Jamie’s life circumstances. Can’t wait for the next episode

I know!!! I can’t wait for the next episode and I love how Starz is making it an extended episode. They know the fans need it lol. I hope you have a great week Sam!

It is crazy and I can’t believe the fires are so close to family and friends. Thanks Grace and I hope you have a great week too!

  2. It’s just awful what’s going on out there- glad you and your relatives are safe! I feel so bad for all the people affected. Stay safe!

Can’t wait for stranger Things 2, it looks even better than the first one!

    • Kathy

Thanks Greg!! Stranger Things 2 looks really good and I agree it might be better than the first one. It looks l like a lot more action.

  3. I am glad you and your loved ones are safe from the fires. I just can’t imagine what those people are going through. Prayers for them as well as the firefighters.

I haven’t seen this season of Outlander yet though Voyager was one of my favorite books of the series (I’ve only read the first four so far). I bet that next episode will be pretty emotional!

Hope you have a good week!

I pray for the firefighters too. There are so many fires in such a close area I am sure they are so tired but continue to fight the fires. I read Voyager a couple years ago so some of the details is coming back to me while I watch the show. I can’t wait to see the reunion lol. Thanks Christina and I hope you have a great week!

  4. I’m located in the Bay Area and I woke up to smelling smoke on Sunday it scared the living hell out of me.

It’s devastating what’s happening up there. The photos and news from Sonoma and Nappa are horrific and I can only hope they’ll get it contained as soon as possible.

Now, I have heard so many amazing things about Stranger Things – I really need to add a binge watching day to my calendar.

My parents live in the Bay Area and I was worried about the air quality for them. It scared us too and I pray all the fires are put out soon. I hope you get to watch Stranger Things. I love it and the first season has only 8 episodes, so the storyline goes fast. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you guys stay safe!! Have a good week!

  5. I am frightened for the people in those areas, while realizing that it is all too close for comfort. In the Central Valley, we often have wildfires in our neighboring mountains, and when I was living in the foothills, they sometimes surrounded our little town.

Thanks for sharing the map…it definitely makes it all too real, though.

Enjoy your week, and let’s get lost in our books. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

It is really frightening and the people have lost so much. The fire will not reach us but seeing the map does make it all so real. Thanks Laurel-Rain and I hope you have a great week!

The fires are frightening and now I always keep my cellphone with me in case of emergency alerts. You never know when something will happen so it’s good to stay prepared. Thanks Kim and I hope you have a good week!

I wish we can get some rain! It would really help to contain the fires. Thanks Samantha and I hope you have a great week!

Lara Adrian has been on my TBR for a long time, so I need to finally read her books. Thanks Jen and I hope you have a great week!

  6. Sorry to hear about the fires. I read about the news after my blogging friend talked about it on her blog yesterday. I don’t actually know what to say except pray that the victims will get to build their lives again. I know it probably won’t be normal but I hope the best for them.
Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week filled with awesome books. Happy reading. 😊❤️

    • Kathy

I hope the fires get contained so everyone can start picking up the pieces and rebuild. Thanks and I hope you have a great week!

It is really scary and some of the fires are still burning. I know of that sanctuary. It’s sad to hear the owners home was destroyed. Some animals are being held in the Sacramento area, which is far from the fires and I hope less stressful for the animals. Thanks Melanie!
