Weekly Wrap-Up #131

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.  Last Sunday we went to Woofstock, which is annual dog festival to help raise money for local canine rescue groups and a dog park.  This was our first time attending and we had fun. We dressed our dog Koko with butterfly wings and she looked adorable. She loved all the attention she got (from humans and other dogs).  There were so many cute dogs but it was a really hot day. It was close to 100 degrees and there was some shade to help keep the dogs cool. We brought a lot of water for Koko to make sure she stayed hydrated.  We didn’t stay long because of the heat and poor Koko was so tired she slept during the drive home (which is rare because she loves looking outside the car window). A lot of people complained about the heat so hopefully next year they will change the date of the event, to a cooler month. Here is a picture of Koko with her butterfly wings.

In the U.S. we are celebrating Labor Day on Monday, so most of us get a three-day weekend. I am also taking Tuesday off so I get an extra day off.  I’m looking forward to this long weekend but it is going to be busy.  I’m writing this post on Friday night because this weekend is the SacAnime convention in downtown Sacramento.  I’ll be going to the convention with my daughters. At first I wasn’t going to attend with my daughters but the weather is going to be in the 100 degrees again and I’m worried about them being in their cosplay costumes.  They are dressing up again as characters from the video game Overwatch and wearing a wig will make them hot. So I will be acting as their “handlers” for the day, making sure they stay hydrated, taking their pictures and carrying their stuff if someone wants to take their pictures lol.  I think I’ll listen to my audiobook while we walk around the convention center lol.

Do you have any plans for this weekend?  I’ll be visiting blogs on Monday and catching up on my reading (I can’t wait to have time for myself lol).

Currently reading or listening to:

  • A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (audiobook) à I have 8 hours left on this audiobook, on chapter 50 of 84.  I can’t wait for this book to be done already lol
  • East in Paradise by Tif Marcelo (eARC) à12% into book.  I like this story so far.

Here is what happened since my last Weekly Wrap Up:

Reviews coming soon:

  • You Say It First by Susan Mallery (eARC for a Blog Tour)
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses & A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (Mini audiobook reviews once I’m done with A Court of Wings and Ruin)

Don’t miss this giveaway:

Currently watching:

The Game of Thrones season 7 is now over. Did you watch the finale? It was one of the best episodes ever!  This last episode finally revealed an important secret (I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t watched this yet).  Now we have the long wait until the final season airs, which might not be until 2019. No actual date has been released since they haven’t started filming yet, but I hope we don’t have to wait that long.

Outlander premieres on September 10!  Who else is excited about this show?  I’ve been avoiding all the spoilers (photos and behind the scenes interviews).  I’ve read all the books so I know what is supposed to happen, so I want to enjoy the episodes as they air.

I hope you have a great week!

  1. I couldn’t imagine the time commitment required to listen to an SJM book (they are all huge). I can only listen to contemporaries. I tend to get lost in the story when I am only listening, but my contemporary romances work well for me on audio. Koko is the prettiest butterfly ever! Hope the con was fun.

Listening to the audiobook is easier for me since I listen while I’m driving to work. These are huge books so I think that’s why I can’t wait to be done with this lol. The con was fun. Thanks Sam and I hope you have a great week!

ACOTAR is good but this last book is really long lol. I love Cassian and Azreil so I can’t wait to see what happens with them. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  2. I was just thinking today about how I need to read The Court of Wings and Ruin! I love that series.

Woofstock is an adorable name for a dog event! That is pretty hot, I agree. Your dog is adorable too!!

    Have a great week. 🙂

Court of Wings is good but it’s a really long book lol. Thanks Erin for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  3. Aww, Koko looks cute. And I think that’s funny she slept on the way home- she must have been a tired doggy! Hope the anime convention goes well too!

The Game of Thrones finale was pretty epic!

GOT was amazing and it was nice how they finally tied up some loose ends. Hopefully Jon’s true identity will be revealed in the first episode so the rest of the season can focus on the epic battle. I hope we don’t have to wait too long lol. Poor Koko was tired but she felt good when we got home. Thanks Greg for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  4. Koko looked so adorable. We have a “Walk Your Paws” event in our town each year and it’s usually in early June,. They have a different theme each year and it’s a great way to raise money. Enjoy your time off!B

    • Kathy

Walk Your Paws sounds like a fun event and a great cause. Our summers are really hot here so hopefully they will change the date for next year. Thanks Barb for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

We had fun at the convention and luckily it wasn’t too hot. Thanks Nicole and I hope you have a great week!

SacAnime sounds like fun. I’ve been to Fanime in San Jose with my daughter in the past. I was a sort of handler for her a Claymore character. Oh yes! Looking forward to Outlander too. Happy reading.

    • Kathy

My girls want to go to Fanime next. We haven’t been to that yet but it looks like a lot of fun. I’ll be their handler and their driver lol. Outlander is tonight!! Finally the wait is over! Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!!

It was a lot of fun (even though it was too hot lol). Thanks Lexxie and I hope you have a great week!

  6. Koko is adorable! Love the wings! Sounds like a busy weekend. Hope the con was fun and that it didn’t get too hot. I think by this point in summer it’s not so much that it’s hotter it’s just that I’m so done with being hot that it feels worse! Have a great week!

It was a busy weekend but a nice short work week. Our weather is finally cooling down and hopefully it stays that way. Thanks Katherine and I hope you have a great week!

  7. Aww your dog looks so cute! Sounds like a fun festival! Too bad about the heat, let’s hope next year they plan it on a cooler date. I hope you enjoyed your extra long weekend!

    • Kathy

I hope they select a cooler date for the sake of the dogs. Thanks Lola and I hope you have a great weekend!

  8. Koko looks adorable in her wings, and Woofstock sounds like fun…as does the SacAnime festival. But those temperatures don’t sound fun at all! I hope things cool off for you soon, and also that you get rain. All the fires out West could definitely use it.

    • Kathy

Koko loves all the attention but hates the costumes lol. I hope we get rain too. We can smell the fires sometimes, so rain would help.
