Weekly Wrap-Up #130

Posted August 26, 2017 by Kathy in Weekly Wrap-Up / 18 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.  We had a regular week, with work and kids in school. The only exciting thing that happened was the eclipse, which I missed because I was in a meeting lol. I didn’t have the protective glasses and our area wasn’t on the main path, so I’m fine with missing it.  But we did have some weird weather that day with overcast skies and some sprinkles of rain. I’m not sure if that was odd weather or a result of the eclipse.  Did you see the eclipse?

I got some reading done this week (yeah me lol). I’ve been struggling with getting reading done because I’m too tired from work but I made time to read a couple chapters a night. It feels good to read since that is my relaxing time.  But I decided to lower my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal from 90 to 80.  It was getting frustrating seeing how far behind I was but now that I’ve changed it I’m only 1 book behind. I think I’ll be able to stay on track now.

The RT Convention registration will be Sept 6, is anyone going?  This will be my first time going and I can’t wait.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to take off work for the entire convention so I might register for the weekend pass.

Currently reading or listening to:

  • A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (audiobook)

The Game of Thrones season finale is Sunday and I can’t wait to see what happens.  I hope Cersei doesn’t screw everyone over lol.  With no more GoT I’m counting the days until Outlander premieres on Sept 10!!

I hope you have a great week!

  1. Looking forward to Game of Thrones too! Hard to believe we’re at the series finale already?? Yikes.

I didn’t read a lot this past week, maybe this week will be better. Hopefully. 🙂

Hope you have a good one!

This season was too short!! The finale better be good to make up for that lol. I hope you get to read this week. Thanks Greg and have a great week!

I wasn’t excited about the eclipse either. Maybe if we were on the path of the eclipse I would have made a bigger effort lol. I can’t wait for the finale tonight too. Thanks Grace and I hope you have a great week too!

  2. I hope to someday got to RT. It sounds like a great festival. I only go to BookCon regularly, as it is nearby (I flew to Chicago for it too). I was considering going to Yallfest again, but I just couldn’t work it out. If it makes you feel any better, I missed the eclipse too, and I was one talking it up the most at work (I used to teach astronomy). Hope you have a great week!

RT will be in Reno which is a 2.5 hour drive for me. That is the closest it’s been for me so I can’t wait to go. I also want to go to Yallfest and BookCon. All the good events don’t happen in California lol. Thanks Sam and I hope you have a great week too!

I’m not sure if GoT is on Netflix or Amazon Prime. You should try HBO Go, they are showing all the seasons there. I hope you give it a try and enjoy it. Thanks Laurel-Rain for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  3. I’m almost through binging season six of GOT and then will start seven this week. I had to google to see when the series ends. Looks like season eight is the end. What will I do then? LOL
We had about 86% coverage for the eclipse. The sun was so brilliant in the morning. I forgot not to look and I really couldn’t even come close to looking at it. Such a strange looking light for a good part of the day.

Season 7 was really short so you’ll be caught up soon. I can’t believe they plan to end the show next year. I don’t know what I’ll watch after that lol. Thanks Laura for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  4. My daughter and I made viewing boxes for the eclipse. Have a great time at the RT convention. I am behind on GoT. I have to try to avoid any spoilers!

My co-workers didn’t have glasses so they watched the eclipse with viewing boxes. It was really interesting to see the pictures they took of the eclipse. Spoilers will be hard to avoid, everyone either celebrates or vents an episode on social media lol. I hope no one ruins it for you. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

I guess we’ll have to wait for the next eclipse lol. Thanks for stopping by Nicole and I hope you have a great week!

  5. The cost for crazy for RT and I’ve heard they weren’t exactly welcoming to bloggers, but perhaps that is only some folks opinions. I think I am going to go to StoryCon in NOLA instead it is smaller and more intimate. Hope this week is a good one for you, Kathy.

I’ve heard that too. Now I see that there won’t be a Teen Day and that was one of the reasons I wanted to go to RT. I want to go to StoryCon one of these days!!! Thanks Kim for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!
