Weekly Wrap-Up #129

Posted August 19, 2017 by Kathy in Wrap-Up / 20 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.  We’ve had a busy week.  Last weekend we met my husband in Reno for Hot August Nights.  My husband goes every year with his friends to this car event but this was our first time joining him. It was too hot to walk around so my daughters and I relaxed at the pool while he enjoyed the event. I finish reading a book and enjoy a cocktail lol. Last Thursday our office went to an amusement park as an employee appreciation from our company. Our department has been working hard this year as we adjust to our new computer system, so it was nice to be acknowledged for our hard work.  It was a fun day seeing people I usually just speak with on the phone or by emails.

I’m still struggling with having enough time to read and blog. Since I’m behind on my reading I don’t have many review posts scheduled. I do have some discussion posts I need to finish writing up.  I also found some fun tag posts I want to do.  Recently Shannon @ It Stars at Midnight posted this Book Title Tag that I’ll do soon.

Currently reading or listening to:

  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (audiobook)
  • You Say It First by Susan Mallery (eARC for a Blog Tour)

Here is what happened since my last Weekly Wrap Up:

Reviews coming soon:

  • Shear Heaven by Katy Regnery

Currently watching:

I’ve been watching Game of Thrones and it’s getting good. If you watch GOT you have to read Greg @ Book Haven’s GOT recap.  I was distracted while I watched the last episode so Greg’s recap shed some light on what I overlooked.

Do you need a good laugh?  Check out these tweets from James Breakwell @XplodingUnicorn , a comedy writer and father of 4 girls (ages 7 and under) :

I hope you have a great week!

  1. Those tweets are awesome! I think I cackled from the 5-year-old one. Reading the books is not my problem, because I read on my daily commute, but I fell behind on reviewing. I am almost caught up, with only 1 to write right now. *pumps fist in the air*

I loved the 5-year-old’s reaction to school. It’s how I feel about work lol. Great job on the reading and the reviews! I tend to get behind on the reviews but lately I’ve been forcing myself to write them before starting a new book. It doesn’t always work lol. Thanks Sam and have a great week!

I get behind on writing the reviews too but lately I’ve been forcing myself to write it before starting another book. But it doesn’t always work lol. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  2. I have read some of his tweets and I really do those are from his kids because they are funny…I wish my kids are funny.

I would totally be hanging at the pool too. 🙂 I have been stinking on the reading and blogging also but I will catch up soon, this year has been weird for me and I don’t know why lol

I wish my job appreciated us! We don’t even get an xmas party and he took away our insurance. I really need a new job!!!

I’m not sure if it’s really his kids but at that age they do tend to say the craziest things lol. My kids weren’t that funny but I did write down in a journal some funny moments. Work is always getting in the way of my reading and blogging so I haven’t found a way to balance my time yet. I’ll figure it out one of these days lol. Thanks Michelle for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  3. Glad you had a good week! Reno sounds fun, as does hanging by a pool! My reading has been down a bit this week, after some good reads I’m in a bit of a slump as to what to read next. Oh well…

Glad to hear Wonder Woman was good! It looks fun. Did you see Game of Thrones tonight? All I can say is… yikes!! Thank you by the way for the shout out. 🙂

    Have a great week!

I know what you mean about a reading slump. I’ve been listening to Sarah J Maas A Court of Thorn and Roses and I’m feeling burned out from fantasy books. The story is good but they are really long (24 hours of audio) so I think it’s just too much for me lol. I have to read a mystery after this lol.

You’re welcome for the shout out! I get easily distracted with the dialogue so your recap helps lol. I saw the last night episode and OMG!! I can’t believe it’s the season finale already.

Thanks Greg and I hope you have a great week!

I can’t believe GoT season finale is already coming. It was too short and now we would have to wait forever for the next season lol. Thanks Grace for stopping by and have a great week!

That is a cute tweet. That 3-year-old is smart and that’s kind of scary lol. I imagine Andrew Shvarts is going to have his hands full and some interesting debates lol. Thanks for stopping by and sharing. That made me laugh. Have a great week Nicole!!

I wish I can do that every weekend lol. I definitely would get used to that fast. Thanks Kim and I hope you have a great week!

  4. UGH I started a full-time job two months ago, after a few years of working casual, and I am struggling to find a work-life balance – what happened to all my reading, writing and blogging time?!?!?!

    • Kathy

I know!! Being an adult is ruining our fun lol. I used to finish a book in a week and now it takes me at least 2 weeks. It’s good to hear I am not the only one struggling lol. I hope you have a great week!

  5. Sounds like a busy week indeed. But that seems nice your work organized an outing for you and you joined your husband during that car event.

Those tags can be fun to do! I hope you’ll have a great week!
