Weekly Wrap-Up #128

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.  We’ve been busy the past two weeks, trying to do as much as we can before school starts.  My daughter Kailee had her high school freshman orientation on Friday and will be having her first day of school this Thursday (it doesn’t make sense why they start at the end of the week lol).  I’m more nervous for her (finding her classes and making new friends) but I’m sure this will be a great year for her.

How are you doing on your reading challenges?  My Goodreads reading challenge goal is 90 books but I’m currently 8 books behind schedule. I need to start reading novellas to help me get on schedule.

Next weekend we’ll be going to Hot August Nights in Reno, Nevada. My husband goes every year and this is the first time me and my girls are joining him. While he’s looking at the cars we will be relaxing at the pool. I plan to get some reading done, I just hope it isn’t going to be too hot.

Currently reading or listening to:

  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas (audiobook)
  • The Infinite by Lori M. Lee (eARC) – I’ve been struggling with this book so I’m not sure yet if this will be a DNF

Here is what happened since my last Weekly Wrap Up:

Reviews coming soon:

Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo (ARC paperback)

Don’t miss this giveaway:

August 2017 New Release Giveaway (INT) – win any August 2017 new release valued up to $15 (US).  Giveaway ends August 31, 2017

Currently watching:

I’ve been watching Game of Thrones and with 2 episodes in to the new season I’m already getting frustrated. I wish Daenery’s would stop playing nice and use her dragons on Cersei lol. The best part of watching GOT is going on Twitter to see other fan’s reactions.  This image keeps me laughing!

I hope you have a great week!

  1. Glad you’re having a good week. I’m behind on my Goodreads challenge too. I’ve got a vacation coming up that should help me get caught back up. I hope you have a great week.

    • Kathy

I hope you have a great vacation and get some reading done. Thank you Melanie and I hope you have a great week!

  2. I was a teacher for 12 years, and it is actually nice to have a short week in the beginning, because it’s all that beginning of the year administrative stuff, some kids are still on vacation, others are physically in the room but still on vacation. Coming back to school after 10 weeks off is never easy. I wish your daughter the best of luck in HS. I am killing my GR challenge. My long commute gives me lots of reading time, but I am struggling to find a book with a non-western setting to read for another reading challenge.

    • Kathy

That is so true about the kids physically being there lol. My daughter is excited so I hope she has a great time in HS. That’s great on your GR challenge! I love listening to audiobooks on my commute. That challenge you are doing looks really fun and good luck with it. Thanks Sam for stopping by and have a great week!

  3. LOL the starbucks picture is great! I’ve been enjoying GoT as well – I really want John and Dany to get together! Good luck Kailee starting high school – it’s a nerve wracking time to be sure, I know the adjustment was hard for my step-son. But they get through it well and next thing you know they’re seniors (my step-son is starting his senior year at the end of the month, how?!). I will say a short week that first week is nice – ease into the start of a new year after the summer break, you know? We start on Monday the 28th and I’m bummed we have a long week right off the bat. Have a great week and happy reading.

    • Kathy

GoT is good so far but I hope the good guys start winning soon lol. I never thought about the short week in that way, so that is good to know. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer before school starts. Thanks Berls and have a great week too!

  4. I haven’t participated in the Goodreads Challenge since I got frustrated with their “counting” system. With each version of a book counted individually, and if I checked the wrong version and then corrected it, they would add two books read instead of one.

Now I just track my reading on my Curl up and Read blog…but I do post my reviews on Goodreads.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

    • Kathy

Their counting system is frustrating! I’ve tried to change the version too and had no luck. I’ve started my own shelves to keep an accurate count. Thanks for stopping by Laurel and I hope you have a great week!

  5. Ooh the car show sounds fun! And my oldest daughter was a freshman last year, so yeah I can relate to the nervousness. I ws worried about her going into high school. 🙂

Dany needs to fry Cersei and that stupid big Gregorknight undead thing she has, and Qyburn too lol. Unleash the dragons!

I LOVE that Starbucks pic!! Awesome!!!

    • Kathy

That’s great your daughter’s first year was a success. I hope both our daughters have a great school year!!

GoT is so frustrating lol. The good guys need to stop playing nice and just attack lol. That Starbucks pic is great! The moment Jon Snow was introduced it was awkward and funny lol. I can’t wait to see tonight’s episode and I avoided the leaks lol.

Thanks for stopping by Greg and I hope you have a great week!

    • Kathy

That’s great you are ahead on your GR challenge. I’m going to try to get caught up with novellas but if that doesn’t work I’ll have to lower my goal lol. Thanks Grace for stopping by and have a great week!

    • Kathy

I’m sure she’ll have a great time in high school. I can’t help being a worried mom lol. Thanks Kim and have a great week!

    • Kathy

It’s a great picture and still makes me laugh lol. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

  6. I can’t believe schools are starting up already! With our daughter just out of college, I forgot to keep track. Our county switched only last year from starting after Labor Day to starting in mid-August, and I’m not used to that idea yet. Luckily it doesn’t affect me much, except in terms of scheduling concerts for the children’s and youth choruses I direct. Good luck to your daughter in high school; I hope she has a wonderful time!

    • Kathy

Our schools start early here and for their elementary years it was a year round schedule. So we are used to starting early. Thank you and I hope she has a great time too (I just can’t help but be a worried mom lol).

  7. School started here on a Wednesday which I thought was nice. It was still a short week but not quite as short as a Thursday or Friday start. That’s interesting what your friend said about the positives of starting with a short week. It makes a lot of sense. Good luck to your daughter starting high school! Have a great week!

    • Kathy

I never thought of the positives of starting with a short week either. It does make sense now lol. Thanks Katherine and I hope you have a great weekend!!

  8. I didn’t realize schools are starting already. The nice thing about the school starting on Thursday is that you have weekend soon again. I think here we also had high school starting middle or end of the week. I hope it will be a great school year for your daughter!

I think I only have a few books to go until I reach my goodreads goal, but I set my goal purposefully low. I am curious to see how many books I’ll read in total this year.

I hope you have fun at that event! And have a great week!

    • Kathy

I might need to lower my Goodreads goal for this year. Work has been getting in the way of my reading time lol. Thanks Lola and I hope you have a great weekend!
