June is Audiobook Month and today I am sharing my favorite narrators. Everyone has their preference of a male or female narrator. If possible I like to listen to audiobooks with both, but most audiobooks only have one narrator. If given a choice I prefer female narrators. I feel male narrators aren’t believable when portraying female characters, and what I hear and imagine is Tyler Perry’s Madea lol. Female narrators aren’t perfect either and I’ve had some ruin the reading experience for me. I suggest you listen to a sample before starting an audiobook, this can save you from frustration and save your money.
Here are some of my favorite narrators.
Davina Porter – Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon
I fell more in love with Jamie Fraser after listening to the audiobook. Davina Porter creates unique voices for all the characters and brings the story to life. I learned I was pronouncing some Scottish words wrong all these years lol.
Rebecca Soler – Heartless and Lunar Chronicles series by Marissa Meyer
Rebecca Soler is amazing. Her vocal ranges are unbelievable and I have to remind myself that I am listening to one narrator. I especially love her voices for Iko (the energetic and fun robot from the Lunar Chronicles series) and the King of Hearts (the bumbling and sweet character from Heartless).
Elizabeth Evans – Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Elizabeth Evans brings excellent narration and complex characters to life. She portrays the characters with emotion and brings excitement to the scenes.
Lauren Fortgang – Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo
Lauren Fortgang brings characters to life with creative and unique voices. I love the accents she uses which adds a bit of mystery to the character.
Lorelei King – Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones and Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs
I love Lorelei King! She brings characters snarky attitude to life and always makes me laugh. Since I mainly listen to audiobooks in my car I just imagine how crazy I look laughing out loud.
Cassandra Campbell – Serafina series by Robert Beatty
I love listening to Cassandra Campbell’s voice. For Serafina she adds a Southern charm and innocence to the character which makes me fall in love with the character.
