Weekly Wrap-Up #120

Posted March 5, 2017 by Kathy in Weekly Wrap-Up / 12 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone and I hope you all had a good week.  It’s been a while since my last wrap-up post. I’ve been busy with work and family, so our weekends have been spent mostly on the road. Not only did I have not enough time to blog but I also fell behind on my reading. The COYER Winter Blackout Challenge ended this week and I only read 10 books, of which 2 were ARCs (my goal was to read 5 ARCs). I knew work would get in the way of my reading but at least I did tackle my ARC TBR. How are you doing on your challenges for this year?

I am so tired from work so I can’t wait to be on vacation on March 29th. It’s going to a girls trip (my daughters, sister and niece) to Los Angeles.  We’ll be going to Wondercon for the first time. This convention is the same organizers for the San Diego Comic Con but it’s a smaller version. The convention is across from Disneyland so we’ll be going there for a day. I can’t wait to get away and to go to Disneyland’s new restaurant the Red Rose Taverne. This is a limited time promotion for the movie premiere of Beauty and the Beast so I hope the restaurant is still open when we are there. Check out the Disney Food Blog for pictures and the menu. I want to try the Grey Stuff Gateau and I’ve seen pictures on Instagram of a drink holder with a rose inside that I must have! We will be in LA for 4 days and then I get to relax at home the remaining week. I plan to get a lot of reading and blogging done while I’m on vacation.

Currently reading or listening to:

  • Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison (audiobook)
  • Caraval by Stephanie Garber (ebook)

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones (eARC) – I stopped at 50% because I was bored and have other books to read. I don’t want to mark this as DNF because I’m still curious about how this book will end. I’ll start reading this again soon.

Here is what happened since my last Weekly Wrap Up:

Reviews coming soon:

  • Smoldering Hunger by Donna Grant (audiobook)
  • Smoke and Fire by Donna Grant (audiobook)

I hope you have a great week!

  1. I set my challenge goals pretty low this year so I’m doing good on those. I’m looking forward to reading Caraval this month. Wintersong was just MEH for me. I wasn’t too impressed.
Sounds like you all are going to have an amazing month full of adventures! Enjoy!

I didn’t sign up for that many challenges this year but I had hoped to do better on COYER. Oh well there’s going to be another COYER for summer so I have another chance to clear out my ereader lol. I like Caraval so far and it’s more exciting than Wintersong. I hope you enjoy it too. Thanks Stacy for stopping by and have a great week!!

  2. Oh, your vacation sounds wonderful! I always enjoy a getaway…and they don’t happen very often for me, since I am retired, and isn’t that “vacation” enough? LOL.

At the end of the month, I’m going to the beach a couple of hours from here for my daughter’s wedding. Looking forward to that getaway…we’ll stay two nights.

Enjoy yours…and I am excited about mine. I’ve done most of the shopping I needed to do…must find new shoes, though. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

The beach sounds relaxing and a beautiful setting for the wedding. Good luck with the shoe shopping (I also buy those online since the stores never have my size lol). Thanks Laurel-Rain for stopping by and have a great week!

  3. oh your planned vacation sounds like it be very fun and much deserved! I hope all of you have fun
Sorry you didn’t like Wintersong. I still want to read it but have been a bit wary and my mood hasn’t been prepared enough I guess

I’m so tired so any vacation would be great right now, especially just time at home lol. Wintersong is getting mixed reviews but I still want to know what happens at the end lol. Thank you Lily for stopping by and have a great week!

I want to try a couple things from the restaurant lol. I think the blog said the food was different at Disney World which is nice but means I need to go soon lol. Thanks Michelle and have a great week!

  4. The girls trip sounds amazing! I’m not sure what sounds more exciting – Wondercon or the restaurant! We’re (hopefully) going to Disney World in the fall and I’m super excited. I’m super curious to try the grey stuff. I’ll have to check out the Disney food blog. What fun! Have a great week!

Right now I’m more excited about Disneyland lol. They haven’t released the schedule yet for Wondercon but I know last year some authors were there so I’m hoping there will be someone I want to see. Disney World looks so fun and I’d love to go one of these days. I hope you get a chance to go this year. Thanks Katherine and have a great week!

  5. Ooh yay for your upcoming vacation! Sounds fun. Take lots of pictures of Wondercon for us ha ha!

I’m doing okay on my challenges, I’m only doing three and they’re pretty low key. So far so good!

    Hope Caraval is good.

I’ll be taking a lot of pictures of Wondercon. I better remove the 1,000 pics on my phone from Comic Con to make sure I have enough memory lol. Great to hear about your challenges! I didn’t sign up for that many this year but I was hoping to do better on COYER. Oh well lol. Thanks Greg and have a great week!
