Weekly Wrap-Up #116

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone and I hope you all had a good week.  Last Monday was Martin Luther King Jr Day and I took the day off to do volunteer work with my youngest daughter.  This is the second year we did a project at the Rosa Parks elementary school in Sacramento. This year our assignment was to touch up some of the quotes that was painted last year.  We were lucky to have a sunny day so it was fun spending this time with my daughter. Here are some pictures of the quotes at the school.

The rest of the week sucked! Work was stressful and it rained up until Friday afternoon.  The worse of the storm hit us on Wednesday and we left work early because of a power outage (so that was a good day lol!).  But we had strong winds, thunder, and lightning but luckily we didn’t lose power at our house. It is supposed to rain for 3 more days then we’ll have sunny weather. I can’t wait for spring!!

I could not attend the Women’s March in our area but I support everyone that was marching! The next four years is going to be scary but I’m trying to stay positive. No matter what happens in D.C. I will continue to treat everyone with the respect we all deserve.  Stay safe everyone!!

We had a lot of fun volunteering and we look forward to doing more for our community. The Pixar video is fun to watch and it was a nice break from the politics when I saw this on Facebook lol. Thanks for stopping by Grace and have a great week!

That day was a highlight of the week and it was great being with everyone that wanted to do something good for the community. Thanks Katherine for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  1. I agree about the scary landscape of the next four years…I recorded the inauguration so I could watch bits of the speech and fast forward when necessary…a very frightening view of the world is held by this man.

California feels like a nice, safe cocoon…and I hope we don’t feel too many of the effects of his world view here, but I sense that he hates California. I hope that Congress gives him a lot of conflict.

Enjoy your week…we’ve had a lot of rain, which was good for reading.

I agree and I’m hoping for the best. It’s raining right now but we do get a break in the middle of the week. I hope you stay safe and dry Laurel-Rain! Have a great week!

The Falconer is good so far. I had no idea this was a steampunk fantasy so it has some exciting elements to this story. I hope you enjoy it too! Thanks Stacy for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

The quotes are great and we wished we were able to work on the J.K. Rowling design. But it is great to see her included in their choices. These are all good messages for the kids to see every day. It’s funny you mention a boat because there is a man made lake down the street from us, I feel sorry for the people that leave across it. So far the lake hasn’t overflown. Thanks Kim and have a great week!

  2. I couldn’t agree more about being worried about the next four years. The march was such a great way to kick things off though! I wasn’t able to march, but I support everyone who did and found the pictures and updates from all over the world really lifted my spirits.

Sorry the week was no fun! Rain can be nice, but not when you have to go out in it and not when it’s so bad it’s taking out power! Hope this week is better!

I wish I could have gone to the march. It would have been a great experience for my daughters. But we talked about it and was inspired with all the images from the day. Thank you Berls and I hope you have a good week too!

  3. I loved seeing the marches and hope they continue! I too plan to not just ignore all this stuff. As for Valentine’s Day I have a Top Ten post planned but that’s about it…
