My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!!

It’s hard to believe it is 2017.  I scheduled a review for Monday and I almost forgot to change the date to 2017 lol.  I hope you all had a nice holiday. Our Christmas didn’t go as planned again this year since my mom was sick. She was hospitalized for pneumonia but was discharged on 12/24. I didn’t get to visit her because I was sick but we are having lunch with her today (so I’ll be visiting blogs later today). This last week of 2016 was horrible.  I was sick but worked 2 days because I had a report due. I went to the doctor on Wednesday and was given 4 prescriptions, one of them is an inhaler because I was wheezing. It has been a long time since I have been this sick and I think a lot of it has to do with the stress at work. I called in sick on Thursday and was already off on Friday. I’m feeling better but I still need the inhaler. With the tragic deaths of George Michael, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds plus family drama I couldn’t wait for this last week to end. At Comic Con 2015 we stayed in line for about 13 hours to get in the room for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.  It was worth the wait since I was able to be in the same room with Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Star Wars was an important part of my childhood and it is so sad to hear of Carrie Fisher passing away and to have the double tragedy with losing Debbie Reynolds. My heart goes out to all the families who lost love ones over this holiday.

I had little energy last week so I didn’t promote my Top 10 of 2016 giveaway like I normally do (it’s still open if you would like to enter).  I hope and pray that 2017 is going to be a good year for all of us!!!

I haven’t watched anything.

At the movies:

Even though I’ve been sick we watched Rogue One last Friday.  I loved it!  I read Star Wars: Catalyst which was being plugged as a must read before you watch Rogue One and it wasn’t necessary.  But I did enjoy seeing Orson Krennic what he deserved lol.   And the ending was emotional (I don’t want to spoil it if you haven’t watched it yet)!

I hope you have a great week and new year!!

  1. So sorry you weren’t feeling good. I hope you are feeling better. Yes the last week was heartbreaking. I am hoping 2017 is better on all of us. Family Drama? I can totally relate. Just did a bit of that myself this last few weeks. Not a good outcome but it’s for the best. 🙂

I am so behind on the new star wars movies, now one else in my house likes it so I need to watch it when I have a chance by myself. 🙂

Have a great week Kathy! Happy Reading! ox

Our family drama will probably continue for a couple more weeks and I just hope it works out. Hopefully we’ll both have less drama in 2017 lol. Thanks Michelle and Happy New Year!

  2. I haven’t seen Rogue One yet but my husband has and he loved it. Glad to hear that you and your mom are feeling better. Being sick over the holidays is no fun and pneumonia is awful. I’m still in shock over Debbie Reynolds/Carrie Fisher. I can’t imagine what their families are going through now. Happy New Year!

Being sick during the holidays was hard and made it more stressful. But we are all feeling better now. Thanks Katherine and Happy New Year!

  3. It sucks to be sick at the holidays…or any time. And then with the sad news we’ve all heard this week and last…well, we can only hope for a better year.

I have read several books by Carrie Fisher..and last month, read one by Debbie Reynolds. They will be so missed…

Happy New Year, and stay well. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

It was sad news and I plan to read their books this year. Thank you Laurel-Rain and Happy New Year!

  4. Happy New Year! I for one am glad to see the year go, and to start a new one. It’s horrible to think of all the losses, and yes carrie Fisher and debbie reynolds. I’m also sorry to hear you mom was sick (and you as well)- hope all are feeling better. My mom had a holiday scare with some pain that sent her to the ER (they were like stroke symptoms) but luckliy she’s okay. I think a lot of us are ready to bid adieu to 2016!

I agree about Rogue One! And yes Catalyst, while occasionally interesting, was hardly essential. I much preferred the Claudia Gray Star Wars novels to that one.

    Have a great week!

Going to the ER sounds really scary. Luckily we are both feeling better. Now I’m dreading going back to work on Tuesday, it was so nice to relax (even though I was sick lol). Thanks Laura!!
