Weekly Wrap-Up #111

Posted December 3, 2016 by Kathy in Wrap-Up / 14 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

It’s been really cold here in Sacramento so it’s finally feeling like Christmas.  I put my daughter in charge of decorating the house and we finally got our tree up.  We bought a new white tree (per her request) and it looks really pretty. We’ve always had a traditional green tree so it’s nice to try something new. I only have 2 gifts purchased from my Christmas list but I’m not panicking yet. It’s still early so I plan to go to the mall next weekend. I don’t have a long list since most of my nieces and nephews are young adults, so cash or gift cards makes Christmas shopping easy for me.  Do you have a lot of gifts to buy for the holidays?

We watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Moana and loved them both! Now I can’t wait to watch Rogue One, which is coming out 12/16! I saw this funny video on Facebook.

Blog news:

It is hard to believe December is here and it’s time for the Top 10 of 2016 Blog Hop.  This is a week-long hop, with each day having a different Top 10 list. I’m working on these posts now and I will also have a giveaway so I hope you stop by.  Check out the blog hop information here.

Currently reading or listening to:

I’m 5 books away from making my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal so I’m planning to read some Novellas to help meet my goal.  I’m currently reading A Gentleman Never Tells by Eloisa James and will start Heartless by Marissa Meyer in audiobook.

Here is what happened since my last Weekly Wrap Up:

Blog Tour & Review – JC and the Bijoux Jolis

Audiobook Review – Star Wars: Lost Stars

Mini Audiobook Review – Lady Midnight

Reviews coming soon:

Star Wars Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno (audiobook)

Currently Watching

I haven’t watched anything.  I lost interest in Arrow but I’ll catch up on the show another time.

I hope you have a great week and thank you for stopping by!

  1. It’s been cold here too. Wet and rainy most of the week. I’ve got a bit of a start on Christmas but luckily not a lot of presents to buy this year, so I’m not too stressed… yet lol. At least I’ve started which is better than most years!

Love that video, too funny! I am totally geeked for rogue One at this point. Did you see the Felicity Jones video on Jimmy Fallon? That was pretty awesome, and had a clip from the movie too. Looks great!

Can’t wait to see what you thought of Catalyst. I had mixed feelings…

I loved the Felicity Jones video on Jimmy Fallon! I have mixed feelings about Catalyst too and I’m working on the review now. It wasn’t as good as Claudia Gray’s books! Thanks Greg for stopping by and stay warm =)

  2. Finally cooled down some here but warmed back up and got some much needed rain today. That video was so fun. LOL Hoping to catch some movies too as work slows down this time of year and I can slip away for some matinees.
I plan to buy a white tree this week. It will go on my front porch and I plan to decorate it in silver, gold, and red, with red land green lights.

We need more rain here too but lately it has been dry weather. A white tree with silver, gold and red is going to be really pretty and festive. Hope you have a great week Laura!

I hope to get my shopping done soon since I know the malls will get crazy later. This was a funny video. I can’t believe they got Rick Springfield and Weird Al lol. Have a great week Carol!

  3. It’s suppose to get very cold in NJ by the end of this week, I am kind of looking forward to it.
I never had a white tree, I am not sure I could, however they are very pretty!

I hope you are able to finish out the 5 books for your Goodreads Goal. I want to read heartless, I got it at BEA and never read it which was stupid and I am sad lol. I will read it soon.

Have a great week, Kathy! Happy Reading! ox

Our weather has been in the 50’s which probably isn’t cold for you lol. I can’t wait for Spring to come!! I hope Heartless is good. I loved her Lunar Chronicles so hopefully this is good too. Thanks Michelle for stopping by and have a great week!

Fantastic Beasts was really good and I hope they make more movies. I’m almost at my goal so I think I’ll make it lol. Thanks Kim!

  4. It has finally been really cold here, 30s at night and 50s by day. And…wouldn’t you know it? My Central Heating fizzled on me. On the weekend, so there was nobody to come fix it. Someone is coming today, but yesterday, I was out buying a space heater! But I remembered that I’m an old hand at living without central heat, as my house in the foothills had nothing, not heating or AC. (Evaporative cooler for summer). I gave away all those old space heaters…LOL.

I was amazed, though, (and then recalled how true it is!) at how the little space heater raised the room temperature, and pretty rapidly.

Enjoy your books and your decorating. Thanks for visiting my blog.

We put on the heater for the first time and was surprised there was no smoke (like it usually does lol). I’m glad for the rain but I can’t wait for Spring. Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain!

  5. Here the weather was pretty cold, but it’s gotten a bit warmer again. Nice you got a new white tree and got decorated. We still haven’t decorated the house. I hope to watch Fantastic beast and Moana eventually as I heard good things about both of them so far! Glad to hear you loved both movies! I always like seeing the end of the year top ten lists. I planned to do a few myself this year, but haven’t had time to write them, so I only have a best books of the year post scheduled. Have a great week!

I’m writing my top 10 posts but having a hard time narrowing down the list. It’s so hard to choose from the books I’ve read this year. I hope you enjoy Fantastic Beasts and Moana when you see it. Thanks Lola for stopping by and have a great week!
