The spirit of the season is festive—and clouding even the sharpest of judgments—in this Victorian era romance, perfect for fans of Jude Deveraux and Sabrina Jeffries.

At a house party in the countryside, the joyful spirit of the Christmas season threatens to sweep Georgiana Trent under the mistletoe—and back into the arms of the dashing rogue who broke her heart two years ago. Little does she know that Lucas Godwin has no intention of leaving until he has reclaimed her as his own.

This upcoming release is a novella that was previously published in 2015 in the Christmas-themed anthology, What Happens Under the Mistletoe.

3.5 Stars for Sweetest Regret

Sweetest Regret is a heartwarming second chance romance.  Set in the Victorian era Georgiana “Georgie” Trent is given the responsibility of entertaining her diplomat father’s guests to a traditional English Christmas.  The stress of being a hostess increases when her father leaves for business and asks her to search for a stolen letter.  To help in the search her father recruits Lucas Godwin, the man who broke Georgie’s heart two years ago.  Georgie and Lucas have both built up anger towards each other but decide to cooperate for the search of the letter.  But as the try to solve the mystery they can’t help but ignore the attraction they still have.  But the past stands in the way of their happiness.  I enjoyed reading Sweetest Regret.  Georgie and Lucas are stubborn characters and I loved their banter. Along with the romance is the charming English holiday traditions Georgie introduces to her guest which led to some funny scenes. This was a quick read but I wish it was a little longer. Overall this was a good story and a delightful holiday read.  This was my first book from Meredith Duran and I look forward to reading more from this author.

(This story also appears in the holiday anthology What Happens Under the Mistletoe which was released in 2015)
