Three months after rescuing Olivia Wolfe from danger, Aegis Security operative Landon Miller still can’t stop thinking about her, even though she’s off-limits in every way possible. Knowing he’s leaving Aegis and returning to the DIA soon, Landon decides it’s time for their flirty online relationship to end. But Olivia can’t stop thinking about Landon, either. On a whim, she takes a leave of absence from her teaching job to surprise him in Barcelona—and arrives to find a sexy redhead in his hotel room.

Things aren’t always what they seem, though. Landon’s would-be one-night stand is really a member of the Red Brotherhood, a terrorist group targeting Landon for information on a lethal bioweapon. And now Olivia is unwittingly ensnared in their deadly plot, too. Forget escaping emotionally unscathed; Olivia just wants to make it home alive. Yet to survive, she’ll have to put her trust in the very man who not only broke her heart, but whose lies now threaten both their lives.

In the second book in bestselling author Elisabeth Naughton’s popular Aegis series, heart-pounding suspense stirs up deliciously sizzling romance.

My Review

Lethal Consequences is the second book of the Aegis series. I enjoyed this more than the first book.

Since this is the second book in the series you need to read the first book, Extreme Measures, in order to get a full understanding of these characters. Olivia and Landon first meet in Extreme Measures under dangerous circumstances. Landon was assigned to rescue Olivia from being held by terrorist. The traumatic event changed them both in ways they never would have predicted. For Olivia her kidnapping opened her eyes to her sister’s dangerous career and gives her the push she needed to make changes in her life. She had been going through the motions and had a job she didn’t love. But now Olivia has a new outlook on life and wants to take chances. Her first big step is with Landon. For Landon meeting Olivia opened up feelings he’s never felt before. Because of his painful past Landon didn’t believe in love, until he met Olivia. Their friendship leads to a steamy romance. But danger follows them again putting their relationship to the ultimate test. Can Olivia trust her heart and safety in Landon’s hands? You have to read this to find out!

As I said earlier I enjoyed Lethal Consequences more than the first book. The difference for me was the main characters Olivia and Landon. I liked them from the moment they were introduced in Extreme Measures. Olivia is not a damsel in distress. She’s put in some dangerous situations but she keeps a level head and does her best to survive until help arrives. Landon is the damaged bad boy who deserves happiness. Together they are a great couple. They are funny and caring but they are both stubborn. They did argue a lot but I thought their conflict was believable, considering their different backgrounds. There were times I was annoyed by Olivia’s emotional outbursts that I thought were at the wrong time. I kept thinking can she focus on getting to safety first before arguing with Landon. But overall I did like them as a couple.

Lethal Consequences had action and suspense that I thought was really entertaining. The romance was steamy but I wish there were less sex scenes. These scenes interrupted some exciting progress in the story so I would have preferred that to have been edited. Despite this I can’t wait to read the next book which will feature another supporting couple, Marley and Jake.
