Five years ago, Aegis Security op manager Marley Addison’s lover died in a South American raid gone horribly wrong…or so she thought. When she receives a phone call telling her that he is still very much alive and in danger, she vows to bring him home safely, even if Aegis CEO and former Navy SEAL Jake Ryder has kept her out of the field for the last few years. Then Jake shows up in Colombia to help her, leaving Marley annoyed…and more than a little distracted by her alarmingly handsome boss.

As things between Marley and Jake heat up in the wilderness, they discover their rescue mission is filled with treachery. Now the domineering Jake has to rely on Marley for survival. But can she depend on him when their mission takes a shocking and deadly turn?

Fatal Pursuit is the pulse-pounding third book in Elisabeth Naughton’s scorching Aegis series.

My Review

Fatal Pursuit is the third book of the Aegis series. This series is packed with action, suspense and steamy romance.

I love Elisabeth Naughton’s books but Fatal Pursuit isn’t a new favorite for me. The problem I had was with the main characters Marley and Jake. This series revolves around alpha males and independent women. Normally I enjoy these strong characters but Marley and Jake’s stubbornness became too much for me. Marley and Jake have had a strict professional relationship for the past 3 years. Both are stubborn and opinionated so their conversations almost always lead to arguments. Beneath the arguments lies an attraction they both have been ignoring. That is until Jake follows Marley to Columbia and the tropical environment ignites their passion. Marley and Jake have both had their heart broken, so falling in love hasn’t been easy for them. Their romance was steamy but because of their miscommunication there was constant tension between them. This was the focus for 95% of the book so I felt bored and frustrated with them. I liked the suspense and twists of the story but I just wished the romance aspect was trimmed down.

Even though I didn’t fall in love with Fatal Pursuit author Elisabeth Naughton is still one of my favorite authors. I love her Eternal Guardians series and her Against All Odds series, so I can’t wait to read more from Elisabeth Naughton.

Audiobook Review

Hillary Huber returns as the narrator for this series. She has a pleasant and calming voice which made it easy to listen to. I liked the distinct voices she created for the characters and her narration for the action scenes added excitement. Even though I didn’t like the characters as much as I hoped to I thought Hillary’s performance was good. I felt the stubbornness and frustration of the characters through her performance.
