Weekly Wrap-Up #101

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

The weather has been in the 100 degrees here so we have been trying to stay cool. My daughter and I are still playing Pokemon Go but because of the heat we’ve been walking after 7 pm. Some nights have been cooler so it was nice being outside. But there were some nights when it was just too hot to walk long. Our dog Koko didn’t feel like hunting for Pokemon with us. She would rather play in the grass or just stop in the middle of the street. So we stopped taking her with us for now until the weather cools down.

My husband and I are finally watching Netflix. We watched the first season for Daredevil and really liked it. His friend suggested we watch Jessica Jones before watching Daredevil’s season 2. So far Jessica Jones has been slow and we are tempted to not continue. But we’ll see how the next episodes go.

Did anyone watch the Outlander season finale? I really liked it and I can’t wait for the next season. But I’m not sure if they selected the right actress for Brianna. The actress Sophie Skelton is receiving mixed reviews from the fans but I need to wait till next season to finally decide if I like her. For now she is ok but she’s not how I envisioned from the books. I know they can never cast exactly how a character is described in a book but Sophie has brown eyes while her parents Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) have blue eyes. Can’t they at least make it believable that she can be the child of these actors? Also her hair is not red enough. I know these are crazy little details but it’s got to be done right lol. Overall I thought it was a great transition into the next book.

Around the blogosphere

Parajunkee posted Bookstagram Basics – Integrating Instagram With Your Blog. Her post has a lot of good tips for taking photos and using Instagram as an extension of your blog. I love how some bloggers take pictures of their books. I’ve been trying to use my Instagram blog account more but I always run into the problem of bad lighting or how to display the books. Here are my recent photos. My friend surprised me with a mini lemon pie so it went perfect with Luck, Love & Lemon Pie by Amy E. Reichert (and it was delicious!).

  1. I haven’t had much chances to walk around lately but I am still trying to catch a lot and hoping this week and next weekend I can get out to catch a few pokemon I don’t have. I seem to watch to just collect them more than take over gyms. Not really a fighter more of a collector 🙂

I haven’t watched Outlander and I heard it’s really good but I have a list of stuff to watch on netflix, I really need to get watching before the fall.

Have a great week, Kathy! Happy Reading!

I’m just collection the Pokemons too. I like walking with my kids to catch the Pokemons but I don’t like the idea of having to go to gyms to battle. Plus I wouldn’t know how to battle lol. There are a lot of shows on Netflix I’ve been wanting to watch but keep putting it off. Maybe I’ll finally get to some of these shows before the fall. Thanks for stopping by Michelle and have a great week!

This is my second Alice Clayton book to read and I really like her writing style. She is really funny so I’m laughing out loud while I’m reading this. Hopefully we’ll get some cooler weather. Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain and have a great week!

  2. Jessica Jones is a bit slow and the subject matter seems a bit more intense. I stuck with it and thought it was pretty good, but I wasn’t blown away. I was curious about the Trish character and she will be back in S2 I guess. And Cage is getting his own series. I’ve been watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix too- pretty good show, historical, although the protagonist can be maddening at times lol.

Pokemon Go sounds so fun, I love the idea of walking around and encountering creatures. At least I think that’s how it works? lol.

We are only on the 2nd episode so it is getting interesting. But we’ll see if we continue or just go watch season 2 of Daredevil. I heard about The Last Kingdom and that’s on my list to watch. That’s what Pokémon Go is all about lol. Thanks for stopping by Greg and have a great week!

  3. I tried pokemon go and really just didn’t get into it. I think it’s because I live in the country and didn’t see a lot of them…lol. I have seen Daredevil season one but not watched Jones or the second D, not sure if I want too…lol. I thought the first season of D was a bit dark for me. 🙂 Don’t get Starz or I would watch Outlander…got to see the first half of the first season and that is it. Liked what I seen though.

It’s been hot here too, blah. Have fun with those pokemonsI 🙂

I agree Daredevil was dark and not what I was expecting. I’m not sure about Jones. It has to be a bad sign if I start reading while the show is on, right? lol. Thanks Stormi for stopping by and have a great week!!

Thanks Laura! We’ll keep watching Jones. The 2nd episode was interesting so I want to see what happens next.

  4. Oh no!! It has been that hot here too and I’m really hoping we get at least a couple days of cooler weather soon. I’m still catching up on Outlander so I haven’t seen the finale yet, but I’m excited for it! Have a great week 😀

I hope you like the finale. I love how the show has stepped away from the books. I hope we get cooler weather too. So far it has been but it is supposed to get hotter again. Thanks for stopping by Tracy and have a great week!

    • Kathy

We were confused with the first episode so maybe this show isn’t for you lol. We’ll see if we continue watching. Thank you Michael for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  5. You’re like the fourth blog I’ve seen today that has mentioned Pokemon Go, haha. I think it’s taking over the world. That’s cool that you hunt the Pokemon with your daughter though, seems like a fun way to spend time together 🙂 And your dog is so cute, even if he’s not a very Pokemon hunter 😛

I have basically given on Instagram since I don’t have cute things for pictures or lots of physical books, but I love that you just so happened to get a little lemon pie—it’s so perfect!

It’s funny to see how popular Pokémon Go is. I’m walking more now since my daughter is with me.

I love the photos people take on Instagram but I also don’t have a lot of cute things. So I was happy to have the pie to go with the book lol.

Thanks Kristen for stopping by and have a great week!

  6. I love Netflix! I haven’t had cable for about a decade, and I really don’t miss it, especially now that Netflix is caring a lot of really interesting original programming. Sadly Canadian Netflix isn’t anywhere near as awesome as American Netflix, though! :'(

  7. I do almost all my walking after dark, since it is pretty hot here also & I have a great lighted walking path near me. I don’t do Pokemon Go though, and it has caused some trouble where I work since there is a stop on our grounds which are locked after hours and on weekends.

    Sunday Summary #11

  8. It’s a warm week here now too. In the evenings it’s a bit cooler luckily, so it sounds nice to go pokémon hunt then. Aww your dog is adorable!
And small details like that in movies are important to get right, it’s a shame when actors don’t look like you envisioned them. I rarely watch tv or movie adaptions for that reason. Have a great week!
