Weekly Wrap-Up #100

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

It is hard to believe all the violence that has been happening this week. It has hit us in the US really hard but there is violence all over the world. I hope and pray people realize that violence isn’t the answer and no more innocent lives are lost.

We are back from our vacation to Los Angeles and we had a lot of fun. On our first day we went to Universal Studios Hollywood. They had a smaller version of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter but it was still fun walking around. It felt like being in the movie! We tried butterbeer, which was good but too sweet for me. We also got our wands. I had such a hard time selecting which wand to get but I decided on Hermiones. It is an interactive wand that brings certain window displays to life. My daughter and I had fun casting spells around Hogsmeade.

On our second day we went to the Anime Expo. This was our first time to this expo and it was ok. We were disappointed with how unorganized it was but my daughter Kailee was happy to see her favorite dance group perform. Kailee dressed up as Detective Conan.

For our last 2 days of vacation we went around LA. My girls are so used to just going to Disneyland so we decided to do something different this summer. We went to Griffith Observatory, Little Toyko, Rodeo Drive and Santa Monica beach. While in Beverly Hills we visited the Paley Center for Media to see the Outlander costumes and set designs on display. If you are fans of this series and in the LA area you have to stop by. The costumes are beautiful and the hand embroidery is amazing.

I’ve been on Weight Watchers for 3 months now and I lost 7 lbs. BUT I gained 2 lbs. from our vacation. This is ok because it will be easier to stay on track now that I am home. Another thing helping me is my daughter Tyler Marie. We started playing Pokemon Go this week and we’ve been walking every day. If you are not familiar with this phone app basically it is a scavenger hunt for Pokemon. But you have to move around to get Pokemons. Our dog Koko also needs to lose some weight so this game is keeping us all moving.

  1. Sounds like a great vacation! I think Anime Expo and Little Tokyo sounds fun (sorry to hear Anime Expo wasn’t very organized). That’s too bad. But sounds like a great trip! Those costumes are amazing…

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead.

I love the costumes too. My daughters are trying to talk me into dressing up next year for Wondercon. I’ll see if I can do it since it looks like a lot of fun. Thanks Greg and have a great week!

  2. Loved looking at all the pictures of your vacation, really want to go to Harry Potter.

I am loving Pokemon Go. I am having a great time walking around, just need to go someplace else now because the Pokemon around here are all the same. lol. Going to try and catch some when we go to the movies 🙂

Have a great week, Kathy! Happy Reading! ox

We are having fun with Pokémon Go but we also need to try a new location. I keep getting Rattatas. What are they trying to say about our neighborhood? lol.

Thanks for stopping by Michelle and have a great week too!

It was nice to get away and I hate to have to go back to work tomorrow. Pokémon Go is a lot of fun and it’s keeping us moving. Otherwise we would make excuses for not exercising lol. Thanks Melissa for stopping by and I hope you have a great week =)

  3. I love visiting LA, and I haven’t been there since 2008, when I went to BEA. I loved BEA, but ever since, it’s been in New York, and now finally, in Chicago.

My second son lives in LA, but I usually see him when he comes here.

Your vacation sounds lovely…and it’s funny how people often pass through Fresno on their way to somewhere more interesting.

Thanks for visiting my blog…and have a great week.

We’ve only been going to Anaheim so it was nice to visit LA for a change. We were lucky with the weather being cooler and also the traffic wasn’t bad. But I still don’t think I would like living there (I would get lost on the freeways lol). Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

  4. I will definitely have to check out Pokemon Go! My 6 year old has just fallen under the Pokemon spell and that looks like something fun we could do together. Love your daughter’s costume! Sounds like a good time. We went to Harry Potter at Universal in Orlando and had such a good time. I’d love to go back soon. I loved the butterbeer but my husband agreed with you about the sweetness level. He had a sip of mine and then spent the rest of the day eating salty stuff to balance out all the sugar! Have a great week!

Pokémon Go is a fun game to do with the kids so I hope you enjoy it. We’ve been walking everyday since we started playing. It’s the most exercise my daughter and dog has gotten in a long time lol. I’d love to go to Orlando one day and that’s funny about your husband. Thanks for stopping by Katherine and I hope you have a great week!

I loved the exhibit too but we got there close to their closing hours. So I had to rush through everything. This was fine with my family since they were bored lol. Thanks Laura for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

  5. It does seem like there’s some new horrible thing happening every week anymore :-/

Sounds like you had fun at the Wizarding World! The wand thing sounds awesome, haha. And I’ve never watched anime, but the expo sounds fun too 🙂 So do all the other things you did! Those costumes are gorgeous.

That pokemon app is cool! I can see how that would be a fun way to get moving 🙂

    Have a great week!

  6. It’s sad there is so much violence in the world. Your trip to the Universal Studio’s sounds fun with how you got a wand and tried butter beer. Sounds like you had a fun vacation. I hope you’ll have a great week!
