Weekly Wrap-Up #95

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

We are having the strangest weather this week. One day it was sunny and warm then the next day cloudy and cold. It rained really hard on Friday, so hard we can hear the rain on the roof at work. But Saturday it was sunny again. We do need the water but I can’t wait to have consistent flip flop weather.

The blog was quiet this week since I was busy again with life. I’ve signed up for Weight Watchers (again) since I’ve gained weight and not eating right. So this week I stayed on track counting my points and walking at night. I’ve been reading too but I haven’t had time to write up any posts. I’ve just been so tired lately and also I’ve been thinking of new posts. I have fun creating my Book Looks so I’m thinking about doing more with fashion and images. We’ll see how it turns out lol.

The next 2 weeks will be quiet again on the blog. Mother’s Day is coming on May 8 and I’ll be working on a scrapbook to give to my Mom. I’ve been meaning to do this but kept putting it off. But last year she had a mild stroke and has been in and out of the hospital. She’s recovered but her memory has been affected. She is having trouble remembering what she wants to say and also repeats things from minutes ago. So I think this is the perfect time to make this gift for her. I bought some pre-made scrapbook albums a couple years ago and they have a family theme (with quotes). So I just need to find the pictures to put in. So that’s my focus for the next 2 weeks and reading will have to be put to the side. But I’ll still be visiting blogs so I won’t be gone for long =).

Video pick of the week:

I’m still shocked that Prince passed away this week. His music was an important part of my childhood and brings back good memories. But I’m really surprised to hear about his humanitarian efforts, especially in Oakland, CA. I’m familiar with that city so it’s really amazing to hear the anonymous charity work he did for the low income areas. We also lost actress Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) and wrestler Chyna this week so it’s just a constant reminder to not take time for granted. Purple Rain is one of my favorite Prince songs and here is a video of him performing at the 2007 Super Bowl Half Time show in a storm!

Currently Watching

Outlander Season 2 is amazing! The costumes and setting are beautiful, so much better than I imagined while reading the book. Game of Thrones is starting Sunday night so my weekends are booked in front of the TV!!

How was your week?

  1. Sorry to hear about your mom, I think that’s nice your making that scrapbook. The weather here has been similar- on and off nice.

I’m kinda looking forward to Game of Thrones just to see where it goes this year.

I can’t wait for GOT but it’s been so long I kind of forgot what happened last season lol. But the previews looks good. I hope we find out about Jon Snow lol. Thanks Greg and have a great week!

  2. The weather here is the same. I can’t wait for some warm weather…at least more then one day. I haven’t watched Outlander but I have heard good things. I also need to do some catching up on Game of Thrones. I completely missed season 5.

You should try to watch Outlander if you can. You don’t need to read the book, the show is really easy to follow. I can’t wait for GOT but it’s been so long I can’t remember everything from the last season lol. Hopefully it will all come back to me tonight. Thanks for stopping by Marie and have a great week!

  3. That’s a wonderful idea for your mom. 🙂 Since my husband’s diabetes diagnosis we’ve had to rethink our food. And exercise, but we’re working on the food part first. So hopefully I’ll start losing weight now that we’ve cut a large chunk of unnecessary sugar out of our diet. He doesn’t need to lose anymore. He dropped 37 pounds since Thanksgiving and is at his ideal weight now. Ironically enough. lol If it weren’t for his dry mouth in Feb he never would’ve thought to have his blood sugar checked because we thought the weight loss was due to his cutting back on the portions he was eating. Though it’s still possible that’s what it was and the diabetes was a coincidence. We’ll never know. *shrugs*

I hope you have a wonderful week! 🙂

That’s good that you and your husband are working together to eat healthy. I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancies so with that and our family history I have a high chance of having diabetes. I’ve had the dry mouth and constantly thirsty symptoms too but my blood sugar was fine. It’s strange but I know I need to eat better and exercise more. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

I’m loving Onyx!! I really enjoyed the first book but I am just now making time to read more in the series. Thanks Lauren for stopping by and have a great week!

The audio version for Red Queen was good. I liked the story but the narrator wasn’t as exciting as other narrators. I’m on my libraries waiting list for book 2. I started listening to audiobooks last year and I really like them. I listen to them in my car and when I exercise so they’ve helped me tackle my TBR. I hope you give Red Queen a chance and enjoy it. Have a great week Samantha!

  4. I love the idea of the scrapbook for your mom! What a wonderful gift! Good luck with Weight Watchers. I’m trying to get back on board with eating right again as I’m not happy about my weight either at the moment. I love the idea of more fashion stuff! I love clothes and love your book looks! They’re always so pretty and eye catching. Have a great week!

Thanks Katherine! My parents are so hard to buy for so I think a homemade gift would be a nice surprise. I really need to be serious about WW since I’ve gained weight and feel sluggish. I know that eating right and exercising will help. Thanks Katherine for stopping by and have a great week!

I’ve been on WW before so hopefully I’ll do better. I really need to be serious this time because I know my bad eating habits are unhealthy. Especially since my job is so stressful. Thanks Tiffany and I hope you have a great week!

  5. A scrapbook sounds like a beautiful mothers day gift, I hope you have a wonderful time making it and gifting it. 🙂
