Weekly Wrap-Up #91

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This weekly meme is a chance to share news about your blog, books and life. It is also a perfect opportunity to meet bloggers and add more books to your collection.

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good week.

We had a scare this week. On Thursday night at 11:30 pm we received a recorded message from my daughter’s high school principal. There was a bomb threat discovered in the boys bathroom. This is the second time someone has left this message. But this time the message specifically said a bomb would go off at 12:20 pm on Friday. The principal called the police and reassured us that no explosive devices were found. They were also having police at the school during the day. With the first threat I kept my daughter home but this time I thought it would be fine for her to go to school. But at 9 am on Friday I received another recorded message saying a phone threat was received for another bomb in one of the buildings. Since the police were already at the school they were able to investigate quickly and ruled the building safe. My daughter was fine and she sent me a text at 12:21 pm saying she was still alive. We can laugh about it now but this has to stop. I hope they find the stupid people responsible for these threats. If it is one of the students this is a crazy way to get out of school since they will be charged with a felony crime (which includes jail time) and be expelled from school.

Book News

I am currently reading Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye. I received the ARC from Penguin Books First To Read program. I’ve only read a couple pages and already I’m bored. I’ll give it a couple more chapters to decide if I’ll DNF this book. Has anyone read this book? Should I continue reading this?

The COYER challenge is officially over and I didn’t do so good. Work got in the way of my reading and being able to participate with the events. I hope I’ll do better with the next challenge, which is coming this summer. How are you doing on your reading challenges?

This week was better with no bomb threats! People are crazy and I hope they find this person soon. Finding Dory looks really good. I can’t wait to see it. Thanks Grace!

  1. In NJ about 5 or 6 schools got called in with a threat. Most of the schools were in lockdown this week. What the heck is going on? I would have done the same thing and kept the kids home. On Friday the bomb threat was one town over and I almost wanted to go get my daughter just to keep her safe with me.

I can’t wait for Finding Dory! It looks so cute and hilarious!

Have a great week, Kathy! Happy Reading! ox

That is crazy we both had threats in our area. It’s good to hear the threats were false. I love Dory and this movie looks really cute. Thanks Michelle!!

  2. I am so sorry to hear about your daughters school. I am a teacher so I know exactly how scary and frustrating it can be. We have had a few ‘bomb threats’ and its so difficult to determine when to stay home and when you have to try to power through the day. I hope they find the person responsible!

  3. I don’t get all this bomb stuff- in this day and age you can’t even say dumb kids doing a prank, I just don’t get who in the heck is doing this stuff. It’s crazy. And scary, no doubt.

I was going to do COYER too but never signed up, I’ll do the summer one probably. I didn’t do so good last time due to life issues- the usual. LOL. Never enough time… 🙂

    Finding Dory should be awesome!

The bomb threats are crazy but the kids are safe. Life got in the way for COYER so hopefully I’ll do better in the summer lol.

  4. Oh my gosh, how scary. I can’t believe anyone would attempt that prank. I hope they discover the culprits. Sorry to hear that Jane Steele is getting off to a slow start. I have the book as well.

Thanks! Jane Steele is interesting but I’m still debating on stopping. Maybe I’m just not in the right mood for this.

That is scary and tragic!! The school is doing good about keeping us informed and taking all the precautions. I just hope they find this person soon.
