Beyond The Books – “Me” Time

Posted March 10, 2016 by Kathy in Discussion / 10 Comments

Beyond the Books is a weekly meme hosted by which gives bloggers topics (mostly non-bookish) to discuss about. This is a fun way of learning more about each other. Check out her blog for the schedule of topics.

This week’s topic is:

What do you do with “me” time?

I was promoted to department manager in August so I don’t have as much “me” time as I would like. I work 9 to 10 hour days so by the time I get home I eat dinner, help the kids with homework and then do blog stuff (like check emails and reply to comments). But when I do have some “me” time I do the following:

  • I read (this is no surprise lol).
  • I shop on the internet. Primarily for books but I also look for clothes and shoes. I buy all my shoes online because it is hard to find any size 5 shoes at the mall. I hate having small feet and most brands start at size 6. But sometimes I buy from the kids section (as long as it’s not sparkly lol).
  • I play games on my phone. I play Candy Crush, Soda Crush and I just started playing Cooking Fever. My daughter sent me a game request so she could get gems but I got hooked on the game. I can play for hours so that’s why I am behind on my reading lol.
  • I play with our dog Koko. It is really hard to ignore her when she wants attention. She will run up to me and sit there crying and jumping on me when she wants to play. It’s hard to say no to this cute face!

Now it is your turn. What do you during “me” time?

I’ve gotten stuck on it too but I keep trying. That’s why I lose track of time with these games lol.

  1. I think Candy Crush rules the world now lol. Those games are so addictive. I started playing Crossy Road and I suck at it (how hard can it be to cross the road???) but whatever ha ha.

    Cute pictures of your dog!

Everyone has played Candy Crush at least once. I love it but I get so frustrated with it lol. I think that is why these games are so addictive. I keep saying “one more try” then I’ll get off but then a hour passes by lol.

The games are so addictive. This is why I haven’t been reading lately lol. Thanks Vicki for stopping by!

She hates it when we dress her up but I can’t help it lol. She’s so spoiled lol.

  2. Awwe! Your pup is so cute. I love playing games on my phone. I used to be addicted to Farm Heroes Saga, but now I am playing Candy Crush Jelly. I think games are a great way to relax. You ever notice how you can’t be emotional when you are playing those games? You have to be in the moment and just try to win. I like to listen to text to speech on kindle while i play the games. That’s me being totally selfish and withdrawing from the world, with my “me” time.
I am surprised to hear you work so much. I mean, congrats on the promotion, but WOW! We should all be taking tips from you on time management. We all have the same 24 hours in our day. Looks like you don’t waste a minute of it!

I haven’t tried Candy Crush Jelly yet but I’m really addicted to Cooking Fever now. Even though I’m tired from work I fit some “me” time before I go to bed. Thanks Karen!!
