Weekly Wrap-Up #79

Posted December 6, 2015 by Kathy in Wrap-Up / 14 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

I’m back from my 2 week blog vacation. Our Thanksgiving week was busy as usual with work and family parties. It was nice to spend the holiday with our family.

Last week we went on our Disneyland trip and it was so much fun! We went to the park for 3 days, alternating between Disneyland and California Adventure. The park wasn’t as crowded since most of the kids are in school so we got really lucky with the lines. On our first day at Disneyland we were able to do all the popular rides (Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion and The Pirates of the Caribbean) without having to wait long. We also went on Star Tours and Hyperspace Mountain. Hyperspace Mountain is Disneyland’s original ride Space Mountain that was converted to a Star Wars theme. Here is a Youtube video that shows the entire ride. The ride is pitch black which adds the thrill to the ride since you don’t know when the turns or dips are going to happen. I thought the ride was ok with just some added Star Wars effects, so luckily we only stayed in line for 10 minutes.

Also at Disneyland was Star Wars Launch Bay, an interactive exhibit of art work, character greeting (we met Darth Vader!!), demos of video games and behind the scenes video of the movie. It was really cool and I wish I could afford to buy some of the art work. If you’ve been looking for a life size Storm Trooper they are selling one for $9,000 lol.

The main attraction I wanted to see was the holiday lights at night. It was beautiful and was so worth this trip. Here are pictures of Cinderella’s castle, the It’s a Small World ride, and Cars Land at night. We had a great time and I can’t wait to go back again soon!

In a sad note the shootings in San Bernardino was on our last day at Disneyland. We had no idea anything had happened until we got to our hotel that night. On this day we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary while less than 50 miles away 14 were killed and others were injured. It’s just another reminder of the violence in our world and not to take life for granted. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

I’ve read 93 of 100 books for my Goodreads Reading Challenge. I’m really proud of myself since last year I read only 75. I might not make it to 100 but I’ll be really happy that I got close to the goal. How are you doing on your reading goal for 2015?

Thanks Kim and audiobooks have been a big help in meeting my goal and tackling my TBR. If I lived closer to Disneyland I would get annual passes!

  1. Welcome back, glad you had a great trip. Disney is awesome, and I’ve never been there at holiday time but I’ve heard it looks so nice with all the lights. I enjoyed that Hyperspace video. I’ve been on Space Mountain but never seen the Star Wars theme before. And the SW exhibit looks nice too.

Thanks Greg and Disney really went all out for Star Wars. I loved the artwork and wish I had the money (and space) to have one.

A storm trooper would be fun to have but it would probably scare me in the middle of the night lol. Thanks for stopping by!!

  2. Welcome back, glad you had a wonderful holiday. Love, love the holiday lights photos … so pretty! Well done on your Goodreads challenge. I dropped mine to 80 books this year after failing to reach 100 the last few years. I think taking the pressure off worked, I’ve read 84 books lol. Have a great week and happy reading 🙂

The holiday lights were so pretty and I am so glad we finally got to visit the park during a holiday. I’m really proud of myself for the challenge. I did a lot better than I thought I would lol. Thanks and have a great week!!

It had been a while since we went to Disneyland so it was nice to go again without having to deal with a stroller lol. Thanks for stopping by Laurel!

  3. Sounds like you had a great trip to disney! That’s awesome it wasn’t as busy and you didn’t have to wait long. The Star Wars launch bay looks pretty awesome. Although I don’t think many people can afford that life size stormtrooper. The lights at night look amazing! That must be so pretty to see in real life. Have a great week!
