Weekly Wrap-Up #78

Posted November 21, 2015 by Kathy in Wrap-Up / 22 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This was another stressful week but Wednesday was a good day. I had the day off so I can spend some time with my daughters. I went to my daughter Kailee’s school for Parent Lunch Day. The school has these days throughout the school year but I finally was able to attend. I bought us lunch from Smash Burgers and had a picnic in the schools courtyard. It was a sunny day so it was nice to sit outside with her. There were a lot of parents so I’m glad I finally was able to do this. And it was nice to meet some of her new friends.

Wednesday night I watched The Hunger Games Mockingjay double feature with my oldest daughter Tyler Marie. We both loved Mockingjay part 2. It was fun watching part 1 and 2 back to back and I wish they had done a marathon of the series. We got this cool lanyard and pin for watching the double feature!

Mockingjay 2015

I will be taking a 2 week break from the blog. This week I will be busy with work and I am also baking for our family gathering on Thanksgiving. The following week will be going to Disneyland!! So I don’t have any posts planned for the next 2 weeks, unless I write a book review. Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends and I hope you all have a great week!

Here is what happened last week on the blog:

Beyond The Books: What I Am Most Proud Of

Book Review – Campaigning for Christopher

Book Review – Marrying Mr. English

Release Day Blitz – Dark Alpha’s Claim

Book News

I have been borrowing audiobooks from my library and I finally have a chance to listen to books that I have been on the waiting list. This is great BUT I received 6 audiobooks all at once. I have 21 days to listen to all of them before they are returned to my library. We’ll be driving to Disneyland so it is good I have these audiobooks to help make the 6 hour drive go by fast. Here are the audiobooks I received:

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

Bound by Flames by Jeaniene Frost

The Program by Suzanne Young

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

Soundless by Richelle Mead

I DNF’d the audiobook of The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. I got 60% in and I was bored. It was mainly because I thought the narrator was overacting so I was irritated. But I wrote down where I stopped and I’ll try to read the book (which I bought while it was on sale)

  1. Have fun and have a fabulous Thanksgiving!!! (its my favorite holiday 🙂 Going to Disneyland is perfect this time of year, any of the months between nov-mar are great, because they have short lines. So have fun. And yay for Bound by Flames—I just loved that book. I can’t get enough of Vlad and Leila though.

I love Thanksgiving too. It’s the one holiday where it’s really just about being around loved ones (and not worry about gifts) and enjoying all the good food lol. I love Vlad too and I’ve been on the waiting list for this book for months now. I can’t wait to listen to it. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

  2. The double feature sounds fun, I wish they were doing that here especially since I haven’t seen Part 1 yet. I need to watch it… Enjoy your break and Disney land too! And happy Thanksgiving too. 🙂

Hope you like Girl on the Train.

Both parts of Mockingjay were really good and I hope you get to watch it soon. Girl on the Train started off really slow for me and I almost DNF’d it. But now it is getting interesting and I can’t wait to find out the ending lol. Thanks Greg and I hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

  3. I have noticed a lot of people are going on break. I will be also 🙂 I hope you enjoy your time off.
We had parents day at my daughters school, it was all day but you are only allowed to stay for half and hour. So I went at the end of the day so it was perfect, I got to watch her make a paper turkey, even helped her out.

Have a great week, enjoy the turkey and have a fantastic time at DISNEY!!!! 🙂 ox

COYER is a lot of fun so I hope you join the challenge. I need to focus on the ARCs I have before I request some for 2016. Thanks for stopping by Laurel-Rain and I hope you have a great week!

I’m glad to hear this too! I started listening to audiobooks this year and so far I’ve really enjoyed the narrators. But the narrator for Queen of the Tearling was so boring I lost interest in the book lol.

  4. I listened to tons of audios when I delivered the newspaper. I seriously need to incorporate them back into my life. Well, other than the ones the boys & I listen to each evening. Maybe my New Years Resloution should be to exercise. That would be a perfect opportunity for listening. Have a wonderful break and a fantastic time at Disneyland! 🙂

I listen to audiobooks in the car and when I’m exercising. It does help to make the time go by fast and also gives me a chance to read the books on my TBR. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

Thank you and I’ve been packing (doing laundry) all day for our trip lol. Talk to you next week =)

  5. That’s nice you could finally attend parent lunch day on your daughter’s school, it sounds fun! I only have seen the first Hunger Games movie so far. That’s handy you got to watch both part 1 and part 2 in a row, although a marathon would be awesome too. Happy thanksgiving and enjoy your vacation to Disney!

The Mockingjay movies were really good. It’s been a while since I read the books but I think they were true to the story lol. Thanks Grace and I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
