Can Evie convince her rival loves to work together? Their survival depends on it in this third book of #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole’s Arcana Chronicles, a nonstop action tale of rescue, redemption, and a revenge most wicked.

Heartbreaking decisions
Evie was almost seduced by the life of comfort that Death offered her—until Jack was threatened by two of the most horrific Arcana, the Lovers. She will do anything to save him, even escape Death’s uncanny prison, full of beautiful objects, material comforts…and stolen glances from a former love.

Uncertain victory
Despite leaving a part of her heart behind with Death, Evie sets out into a perilous post-apocalyptic wasteland to meet up with her allies and launch an attack on the Lovers. Such formidable enemies require a battle plan, and the only way to kill them may mean Evie, Jack, and Death allying. Evie doesn’t know what will prove more impossible: surviving slavers, plague, Bagmen and other Arcana—or convincing Jack and Death to work together.

Two heroes returned
There’s a thin line between love and hate, and Evie just doesn’t know where she stands with either Jack or Death. Will this unlikely trio be able to defeat The Lovers without killing one another first...?

Purple Mini Review

Dead of Winter is the third book of The Arcana Chronicles and I love this series!

You must read the other books in order to follow the story, so my review will be short and spoiler free. As much as I love this series Dead of Winter only gets 4.5 Stars because there was too much focus on the love triangle between Evie, Jack and Aric. The struggle that Evie is having of choosing between Jack and Aric was too much of a distraction from the main story. This really is a shame because Kresley Cole upped the level of action and creepiness that had me in awe of her writing. But just when I felt a “high” from the excitement it deflated with more mention of the love triangle. Evie really has a difficult choice because I love both guys! Jack and Aric are similar in that because of their painful past their love for Evie is their only reason for living. Both guys are swoon worthy and Kresley Cole made it difficult for me to choose.

Despite the love triangle this is a great book! This series has a unique story and characters, exciting action, and passionate romance (too steamy for young readers, considering this is supposed to be YA). With the shocking cliffhanger ending I can’t wait to read the next book!

Audiobook Review

Emma Galvin is amazing and is perfect for this series! Her performance for all the characters is unique and she expresses the emotions perfectly. As Jack and Aric she’ll make you swoon and you’ll understand why I can’t decide which guy I love more.

About Kresley Cole

Kresley Cole is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the electrifying Immortals After Dark paranormal series and the young adult Arcana Chronicles. She has also written five award-winning historical romances.

Since her first novel was released in 2003, Kresley has published nineteen books with Simon & Schuster and has seen her releases translated into more than eighteen foreign languages. She has traveled over much of the world and draws from those experiences to create her memorable characters and settings. Two of her favorite places to visit include the rain forests of Central America and the Queensland area of Australia.

Cole’s trademark action, sensuality, and humor are exemplified in her popular Immortals After Dark Series, which revolves around the Lore, a secret stratum of hundreds of immortal creatures--ranging from Vampires to Lykae, Furies to Shifters, and Fey to Valkyrie--that each have their strengths, weaknesses, and age old prejudices against the others. Though they secretly live among humans, they constantly war among themselves, which gives her a lot of material.

In 2007, Kresley won the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA award for best paranormal for her novel A Hunger Like No Other, and in January 2009, she became a #1 New York Times and Publishers Weekly bestseller with her sixth IAD installment, Kiss of a Demon King. In 2010, Kiss of a Demon King earned Kresley her second RITA award. 2011 brought Cole her second #1 NYT bestseller with Dreams of a Dark Warrior.

She lives in Florida with her husband and far too many animals. She spends any free time traveling and enjoys all things related to boats and water.
