My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
The school trip to Alliance Redwoods was a huge success! We did 3 hikes on the trip and they were a hard workout for me (but I needed it!). The kids were great and respectful to each other so being a chaperone wasn’t too hard for me. This was a nice break from work and I had fun being with my youngest daughter. She amazed me again by being the first one to do the zip line. I was trying to get the courage to do it but we ran out of time for the chaperones. The banana slug is Alliance Redwoods official mascot. It was like a treasure hunt for the kids to find during the trip. Luckily someone did find one and the kids had a chance to be an official member of the Banana Slug Club if they placed the slug on their nose for 10 ‘banana slug seconds’. My daughter refused to participate but her friends did the challenge!
This was a nice experience for the kids and we are grateful for the opportunity to complete our trip. The kids had fun, learned to work together and overcame their fears. I also got out of my ‘comfort zone’ with the hiking and dealt with my fear of the dark. We had a night hike with no flashlights and used only the moonlight as a source of light. It was scary but I survived the hike! I surprised myself during these trips and now I know I can take a chance on new experiences. We arrived home Friday afternoon and we are all exhausted. It is nice to be home again!!
