The time has come for one winner to be crowned.
When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.
The One is the finale of The Selection Series and fans finally learn if America wins the crown and Prince Maxon’s heart. There is romance, mystery and drama that I loved but at the same time had me feeling frustrated. I don’t want to include spoilers but the problem I had was with Max and America keeping secrets from each other and not taking a stand in their relationship.
Despite that I still admire America for standing up for what she believed in. Instead of keeping her mouth shut to please the King and the public, she followed her heart and her conscience and was a voice for the underprivileged.
Even though I was frustrated with story it did add some drama that was both exciting and heartbreaking. The Selection Series was predictable and has similarities to other dystopian series, but overall I enjoyed this. I look forward to reading the novellas and The Heir.
