Weekly Wrap-Up 33

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

This week was the big school trip I went on with my daughter.  We went to the Alliance Redwoods Conference Grounds and were supposed to be gone Monday to Friday but our school district made us go home on Wednesday.  There was a storm coming on Thursday so the school was worried the roads going home might be closed or dangerous to drive on. We knew from the beginning it would be raining.  On Monday our first stop was at the beach in Bodega Bay. It started as a cloudy day but then it started raining hard.  Winds, rain and sand are not a good combination!!  We were all soaking wet with sand. Here is a picture of the beach before it started raining.

The kids were so disappointed that they had to leave.  The teachers were really upset too and tried to get us to stay.  The facility had said we can stay until Saturday if needed and they had enough food and a back-up generator.  But the school district refused so we had no choice but to leave.  I had just gotten mentally prepared for today’s hike and the prospect of rain.  It had rained while we were there but because of the Redwood trees the rain wasn’t so hard. I was also talking myself into doing the zip-line the next day!  But the school is trying to get us to go back in March to finish the trip, so hopefully I can be a chaperone again. I have to admit that I was worried about this trip. This was a lot of work for the chaperones.  As a chaperone we went on all the hikes with the kids, which made me realize how out of shape I am. But I did have a nice time.  I spent time with my daughter and we both tried something new.

Here is a picture of the main lodge.  As you can see I wasn’t really “roughing it” on this trip! The facility had a cafeteria so all the meals were provided and we stayed in cabins (it was so warm inside I didn’t even need a blanket).  The only camping I have ever done was trips as a kid in a camper and my parents brought a TV and a rice cooker. I’ve never slept in a tent so that is what I was worried about this trip.  But luckily I didn’t have to deal with a tent! I plan to write a more detailed post on this trip in January.

Here is what happened last week on the blog:

This week on the blog:

  • Book Looks Holiday Edition
  • My Salvation Blog Tour – promo post
  • Book Blog Walkers Check-in

This is a quiet week which is good because I have to prepare posts for the Top 10 of 2014 Week.

Reviews coming soon:

Around The Blogosphere:

Ashley at Nosegraze released Tweak Me v2 and I’m getting it for Christmas!!  I had my blog professionally designed by Lea Christine Designs and I love it.  But we used the free WordPress theme BluChic which limits the changes I can do.  So with Tweak Me v2 I’m going to be able to change the layout easier and still keep the design elements created by Lea.

I’m also going to get Ashley’s UBB Reading Challenge Add-On to help me keep track of these reading challenges I’ve signed up for:

COYER – Clean Out Your EReader Challenge

2015 Reading Assignment Challenge – make a list of the specific books you are reading in 2015

There is still time to sign up for these challenges so check them out!!

I made this year’s Christmas shopping easy for my husband (he didn’t have to go to the mall or wrap anything!!).  What are you asking for Christmas?

It was nice to get away from the city. The kids enjoyed the change of scenery and it was so beautiful and relaxing. Thanks Greg!

  1. Sorry your trip got cut short, but I’m glad you enjoyed it while you could! I hadn’t heard of the UBB Challenge Add-on – that sounds AMAZING and I’m going to go check it out right now! At first, I was thinking that I am not nearly organized enough to join your Reading Assignment challenge, but now I’m thinking it might be the perfect thing to get me to read certain books I’ve been meaning to read. I think I WILL sign up!

Hey, if you like doing discussion posts (or have meant to do more, but need a little motivation), check out my Discussion Challenge (see the link below!). 🙂

I’m really looking forward to the Reading Assignment. This will definitely help me to read all the books I’ve wanted to for so long. I’ll check out your Discussion Challenge – I do want to do more discussion posts next year. Thanks Nicole!

It was hard to see the kids disappointment but we did have fun up to that point. Thanks Katherine!
