A Year In Review – My Favorite TV, Movies & Music of 2014

Posted December 30, 2014 by Kathy in Year in Review / 3 Comments

It’s hard to believe there are only 2 days left in 2014! Here are my favorite TV, Movies and Music of 2014.

My favorite TV shows of 2014

2014 Fav TV

Arrow and The Flash have been really good so far.  The storylines are both moving at a fast pace and there is a lot of action so both shows are really entertaining!

The Vampire Diaries is just ok again this season.  There was one episode where Stefan, Damon and Ric go on a road trip looking for a witch and I loved it.  It was so nice to see them without Elena, she is so irritating! I still watch this show for Damon (Ian Somerhalder)!

Sleepy Hollow is just as good as the first season.  In each episode Ichabod has to deal with modern technology and it is so hilarious.  The writers are great on this show!

Game of Thrones ended with another wedding and I loved it!  It was about time this happened (no spoiler in case you haven’t seen it).

Stalker has become a surprising favorite for me.  When the series started I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it. I honestly thought how many stories can they do about people being stalked.  I still feel that way but I love the backstories of the main characters, Beth (Maggie Q) and Jack (Dylan McDermott).  One was a victim of stalking and the other is a stalker (to some degree).  It is a surprising twist in the series that keeps me and my husband coming back for more!

True Blood series ended last summer.  I was sad to see it go but the past two seasons sucked (no pun intended lol).  But I was happy with how the series ended.  It gave a nice closure to the main characters (that managed to stay alive).

Outlander – I love EVERYTHING about this show!  The casting, directing, writing, sets, costumes…EVERYTHING is perfect!  Yes, they made some changes from the book but so far they are minimal and it was a nice surprise.  This is an incredible show and my favorite episode so far is the wedding!!!!

Favorite Movies of 2014

2014 Fav Movies

Divergent was a really good adaptation from the book. Theo James isn’t how I imagined Four (in the book he is described with facial piercings) but it is ok since Theo is so hot!! I can’t wait to see Insurgent next year!

Maleficent and Guardians of the Galaxy were a big surprise for me this year.  I went to watch it not knowing if I was really going to like this.  But I really loved these movies!  Maleficent’s story was different from what I was expecting and I loved the cinematography. It was a beautiful film!  Guardians of the Galaxy was a comedy and an action movie.  I love that combination!!

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies was a nice ending for this franchise.  This movie is 2 hours and 24 minutes long but I was so into the story that I didn’t even notice how long we were in the theater.  All of the movies had great direction and the cast were amazing.

How to Train a Dragon 2 and Big Hero 6 are my favorite animated movies of this year!  I love Toothless and Baymax!!  Both movies made me laugh and cry!!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 didn’t make my list because I haven’t seen this yet!  I want to so bad but my husband wants to watch it with me.  This is fine but he hasn’t seen Catching Fire yet, so we have to rent that first.

Favorite Music of 2014

My list for 2014 has only 1 song on it:  Centuries by Fall Out Boy.  This was in the Big Hero 6 soundtrack and it is a great song to workout to, so I listen to this all the time!  I do like other songs from 2014 but not enough to listen to all the time (the radio stations overplay the songs so I get sick of them!).

That’s my favorites for 2014.  What are your favorite TV, movies or music of 2014?

It is so creepy and I jump sometimes lol! Insurgent looks so good!! Thanks Eileen for stopping by! Happy New Year!

  1. I love Stalker and Sleepy Hollow! I’m so glad they got the issue with Jack being a creepy stalker dealt with (at least for now but hopefully permanently). I was worried that there was no way this season of Sleepy Hollow would be as good as the first but I’m really enjoying it. I’m not great at movies so I’ll definitely have to check out the ones you recommended!
