A Year In Review – Author Events & Conventions of 2014

Posted December 31, 2014 by Kathy in Year in Review / 4 Comments

Happy New Year’s Eve!!  We are just hours away from beginning 2015!! This week I shared My Family Moments and My Favorite TV, Movie & Music of 2014. So today I want to share all the fun author events and conventions I went to in 2014. I live in Northern California but most of the author events are held in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is about a 2 to 3 hour drive.  So I do miss a lot of the events because they are too far.  But this year I was able to attend some.

Authors on the Bay was in March in San Francisco.  This was my first multi-author event and check out my post for the details.  It was a lot of fun!

Wizard World Comic Con Sacramento was also in March.  This was the first year the convention was in Sacramento so it was really exciting to have some celebrities attend.  I waited 6 hours for Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and it was worth it!  Check out my post for the event.

The Diana Gabaldon book signing was in June.  I was so excited to hear she was coming to Sacramento to promote her new book Written In My Own Heart’s Blood (Outlander Series #8).  I’ve never seen any interviews of her so I was really impressed with how charming and funny she was.  Here is my post for the event.

Comic Con San Diego was the highlight of my year!! I had so much fun with my daughter and sister on this trip!  And I got to meet the cast of Outlander and my favorite author Kresley Cole!! You have to check out my post for all the details!  But here are some of my favorite pictures from Comic Con:

The Marie Lu book signing was in October and was the final event for 2014.  I had just finished The Young Elites so it was great meeting her and hear her talk about the book.  See my post for more details of the event.

What is coming in 2015?

February is the Love and Fifty Sacramento Author Event – The event includes a book signing and then a viewing of The Fifty Shades of Gray movie!  This is on February 13th and I have my ticket but I’m not 100% sure I will be going.  It is Valentine’s Day weekend so maybe my husband will surprise me with a romantic getaway (fingers crossed lol).

July is Comic Con San Diego!!  I can’t wait to go but this is probably going to be my last one.  It is really stressful getting the tickets and the hotels.  Plus I want to have a different vacation, preferably a nice beach where I don’t have to line up (or camp out) for anything lol.

August is the San Francisco Golden Gate Author Event – I can’t wait for this event because there are going to be so many authors I love, including Jennifer L. Armentrout and TK Leigh!!

There are more Northern California events coming which I hope I can attend.  If you live in the area check out Tales of the Raveanous Reader for event information.

Did you attend any events this year?

Thank you everyone for supporting my blog this year! I have met so many amazing people this year and it has been exciting to share our passion for reading. I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year!!
