Weekly Wrap Up 22

Posted September 28, 2014 by Kathy in Wrap-Up / 9 Comments

My Weekly Wrap Up is my version of The Sunday Post hosted by Kimba at Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Last week I was busy as usual with family and work. I’m really behind on visiting blogs and I hate this. I miss out on so many great posts but I’m trying to catch up.  We finally watched The Maze Runner movie and I thought it was good.  I haven’t read the book and I am tempted to read it but I just don’t have the time. Hopefully they will make the next movie because I am curious to see what happens next.

Here is what happened last week on the blog:

This week on the blog:

  • The Fine Art of Pretending Release Day promo
  • Books That Need More Attention Giveaway Hop
  • Something Wicked Strikes Giveaway Hop
  • Madisson Street Cover Reveal
  • The Fine Art of Pretending review
  • What Were You Expecting? review
  • Heart of Light review
  • Book Blog Walkers Check-in

Currently reading:

I’m still reading Twisted by Elisabeth Naughton but once I am done I’ll be reading The Young Elites by Marie Lu.  She was at Comic Con San Diego so I was lucky to get a signed ARC so I’m really looking forward to reading this.

The Young ElitesI am tired of being used, hurt, and cast aside.

Adelina Amouteru is a survivor of the blood fever. A decade ago, the deadly illness swept through her nation. Most of the infected perished, while many of the children who survived were left with strange markings. Adelina’s black hair turned silver, her lashes went pale, and now she has only a jagged scar where her left eye once was. Her cruel father believes she is a malfetto, an abomination, ruining their family’s good name and standing in the way of their fortune. But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.

Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Currently watching:

Gotham (Fox) – this premiered last Monday and I liked the first episode. It was interesting to see familiar characters the Penguin, Poison Ivy, Cat Woman, and the Riddler younger and before they become their infamous characters. Gotham aires before Sleepy Hollow so Monday is designated as a Fox TV night for us.

Sleepy Hollow (Fox) – this premiered last Monday. It picked up from the season finale and it was strange as usual.  It’s so funny to see Ichabod deal with modern day technology and also talking about our founding fathers, it adds some humor to the normally dark story.  The season is starting out good.

Sleepy Hollow

Outlander (Starz) – I loved Saturday’s episode. The scenes between Jamie and Claire were so romantic and you really feel how connected the characters are. This episode did make some changes from the book but I think it worked well.  Now we have to wait until April 4 for the season to return.  That is so long to wait but I will pass the time by watching the wedding episode over and over again (it was just perfect!)

Outlander April

Once Upon A Time (ABC) – the season premieres today and even though I never finished season 1 we are going to try to watch this.  This season they are bring the Frozen characters so my daughter is really excited to watch it.  So hopefully we can watch this without being totally confused.

The Vampire Diaries (CW) – the season premiere is this Thursday and even though the storyline has been irritating I still have to watch. I have to know what happens to Damon (Ian Somerhalder).

The Vampire Diaries 7

Hi Em! I heard mixed reviews about the book but I liked the movie. I was able to fall along with the story so hopefully they didn’t make too many changes from the book. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

  1. I loved Sleepy Hollow last week – especially the scenes where Ichabod was giving his opinion on Franklin! I’m curious to see where it goes from here. I’m curious about Gotham and I really want to start Once Upon a Time. I’ve thought about seeing The Maze Runner as I’ve heard such mixed reviews for the book. I’m glad you enjoyed the movie. I’ll have to keep it in mind. Have a great week!
