Conflict of interest is an understatement…

Since being disowned by her strict father, Cass Stone has spent her adulthood trying to prove him wrong. Her drive has led to more success than her family ever thought she’d achieve, and life is looking great. Not even an incredible and mysterious one night stand that leaves her a single mom can trip her up...until the father of her baby stumbles back into her life, as sexy and unreliable as ever.

Logan Alexander hasn’t forgotten the night he spent with Cass two years ago, but he never expects to end up undercover as her assistant. His job saves lives—like it should have saved his brother—and he can’t afford complications. It’s difficult enough to maintain his cover as a carefree wanderer when he realizes his attraction to Cass hasn’t faded...and then he meets Cass’s daughter.

My Review 4

Her Secret, His Surprise is the first book I’ve read from author Paula Altenburg and I really enjoyed this.  This is a sweet romance story that is mixed with a mystery, which is a combination I love.  It has the right balance of being heart-warming and sexy to keep readers attention.

Cass Stone has been on her own since she was 18-years-old.  She left her strict father to find a better life.  I really like how Cass was independent and worked hard for everything she has.  Her life changes when she meets Logan Alexander, a sexy bartender, on her business trip.  After one night of passion Cass becomes pregnant but Logan is nowhere to be found.  Being a survivor Cass becomes a single mother and does her best to raise her daughter alone.  But two years pass and Logan re-enters Cass’ life.  But he has secrets that can jeopardize any hope of a future together.

I really liked Cass but I was bothered with how she always looked down on Logan’s occupation. Since she has been independent I found it odd how much money Logan made.  Or that he appeared to be a guy with no goal in his life.  She’s made it so far with any help from a man, so why did it matter with Logan. Despite this I really did enjoy the story.  It’s a second chance for Cass and Logan.  The chemistry is hot between them and the scenes with Olivia was so touching.

This is my first book from author Paula Altenburg and I was really impressed with her writing.  The story was unique and interesting.  It was written well and the characters were lovable.  I look forward to reading more from this author.
