In this highly anticipated fifteenth novel in the Immortals After Dark series, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole spins a sultry tale of a mighty warrior scarred inside and out and the beguiling sorceress with the power to heal him—or vanquish him forever.

Eternal Obsession
As a boy, Thronos, prince of Skye Hall, loved Lanthe, a mischievous Sorceri girl who made him question everything about his Vrekener clan. But when the two got caught in the middle of their families’ war, tragedy struck, leaving Thronos and Lanthe bitter enemies. Though centuries have passed, nothing can cool his seething need for the beautiful enchantress who scarred his body—and left an even deeper impression on his soul.

Endless Yearning
Lanthe, a once-formidable sorceress struggling to reclaim her gifts, searches for love and acceptance with all the wrong immortal suitors. But she’s never forgotten Thronos, the magnificent silver-eyed boy who protected her until she was ripped from the shelter of his arms. One harrowing night changed everything between them. Now he’s a notorious warlord with a blood vendetta against Lanthe, hunting her relentlessly.

Can the heat of desire burn brighter than vengeance?
With their families locked in conflict and battles raging all around them, will Thronos and Lanthe succumb to the brutal chaos that threatens everything they cherish? Or will the fragile bond they formed so long ago spark a passion strong enough to withstand even the darkest doubts?

My Review 4

Dark Skye is the 14th book in Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series and is now one of my favorites!
If you have never read this series you must know that each book tells the love story of two people.  They come from different factions (aka species) so it is an opposites attract kind of romance.  But of all the books Dark Skye features a couple that have the most odds against them. Malanthe (aka Lanthe) is a powerful Sorceress.  Thronos is prince of the Vrekener clan (winged creatures that are related to demons and considered the source for many angel myths). Vrekener’s capture young Sorceri and strip them of their power to make them slaves. So any relationship between Lanthe and Thronos are doomed from the start.  But they meet as children and Thronos recognizes Lanthe as his mate.  They know they should be enemies but they form an innocent friendship that grows to young love.  But tragedy strikes and they are lost to each other. Lanthe and Thronos’ love story is realistic. They have to deal with their past in order to have a future.  And they have to learn to trust each other again.
But this isn’t just a love story.  There is also personal growth for the characters.  Lanthe is the Queen of Persuasion and can create magic portals.  But she often makes mistakes when she uses her powers.  This is because of her lack of self-confidence and the constant coddling from her older sister, Sabine. But when she and Thronos are in danger she finds the confidence and becomes a force to be reckon with.  I would love to have her powers and I can imagine all the things I can make my husband and kids do.  And I can travel the world for free!! Thronos also learns an important lesson.  He’s been so obsessed with hunting down Lanthe that he hasn’t seen the injustice his brother, the King, has been doing to his people and to the Sorceri. I really enjoy this part of Kresley Cole’s stories because we get to know the characters as a couple but also as individuals.
As with all the books of this series it is nice to see my favorite character, Nix, the three-thousand-year-old Valkyrie soothsayer!! I love Nix and her powerful (but sometimes insane) advice.  Her riddles of advice are always creative and fun to read. Nix says the craziest things and it makes me laugh out loud:
This is a formal affair. Kali is wearing twelve skulls.” Nïx’s eyes went wide. “I should’ve vajazzled!”
Kresley Cole is one of my favorite authors and she is an amazing story teller. I can’t believe how much romance and action was packed in this story. Lanthe and Thronos have an incredible adventure in different realms that is exciting and dangerous. We are introduced to Nereus and his underwater kingdom of Sargasoe.  It’s always interesting to meet new characters and it brings endless possibilities of future adventures for the series.  I can’t wait to see if this kingdom will be featured in a book soon.
I loved Dark Skye and highly recommend this book!  It is paranormal with romance, action and comedy.  It is a fun story that I will read again and again!
Rating Report
Overall: five-stars
I had the pleasure of meeting Kresley Cole last month at Comic Con San Diego.  I had already pre-ordered a copy of Dark Skye for my Nook but when I heard she was there I had to meet her and get her autograph.  So as a souvenir I purchased the hardcopy of Dark Skye, so I have two copies.  That is how much I love her!!  But I read the ebook copy because I hate to run the hardcopy.  Does anyone else do this??

About Kresley Cole

Kresley Cole is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the electrifying Immortals After Dark paranormal series and the young adult Arcana Chronicles. She has also written five award-winning historical romances.

Since her first novel was released in 2003, Kresley has published nineteen books with Simon & Schuster and has seen her releases translated into more than eighteen foreign languages. She has traveled over much of the world and draws from those experiences to create her memorable characters and settings. Two of her favorite places to visit include the rain forests of Central America and the Queensland area of Australia.

Cole’s trademark action, sensuality, and humor are exemplified in her popular Immortals After Dark Series, which revolves around the Lore, a secret stratum of hundreds of immortal creatures--ranging from Vampires to Lykae, Furies to Shifters, and Fey to Valkyrie--that each have their strengths, weaknesses, and age old prejudices against the others. Though they secretly live among humans, they constantly war among themselves, which gives her a lot of material.

In 2007, Kresley won the prestigious Romance Writers of America RITA award for best paranormal for her novel A Hunger Like No Other, and in January 2009, she became a #1 New York Times and Publishers Weekly bestseller with her sixth IAD installment, Kiss of a Demon King. In 2010, Kiss of a Demon King earned Kresley her second RITA award. 2011 brought Cole her second #1 NYT bestseller with Dreams of a Dark Warrior.

She lives in Florida with her husband and far too many animals. She spends any free time traveling and enjoys all things related to boats and water.
