From #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole comes The Professional—the first scorching installment in her Game Maker series, an erotica collection that has readers asking: How hot is too hot?
He makes the rules . . .
Mafiya enforcer Aleksandr "The Siberian" Sevastyan’s loyalty to his boss is unwavering, until he meets the boss’s long-lost daughter, a curvy, tantalizing redhead who haunts his mind and heats his blood like no other. Ordered to protect her, Sevastyan will do anything to possess her as well—on his own wicked terms.
Rules are made to be broken . . .
PhD student Natalie Porter had barely recovered from her first sight of the breathtakingly gorgeous Sevastyan before the professional hit man whisks her away to Russia, thrusting her into a world of extreme wealth and wanton pleasures. With every day she spends under his protection, she falls deeper under his masterful spell.
Are you ready to play?
Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy’s reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest—and most forbidden—fantasies can come true…
I am a HUGE fan of Kresley Cole’s the Immortals After Dark Series (IAD), so as soon as I heard she was releasing an Erotica series I was curious and had to read it. IAD is a sizzling adult romance series so I was curious to see how much hotter Kresley will go in The Professional. To my surprise it was just a little bit more graphic sex scenes, so don’t let the “erotica” label scare you off!
What I love about the IAD series is that Kresley Cole creates heroines that are intelligent and independent. I was so pleased that The Professional continues this pattern. Natalie Porter is a PHD student who has worked hard to put herself through school. But she meets the sexy and mysterious Aleksandr Sevastyan and her life is completely changed. Instead of finishing her PHD she is whisked away to Russia. Natalie is thrust into a new world of palaces and expensive gifts, and is also surrounded by men who believe that women are fragile and should be protected. But the intelligent Natalie refuses to be kept in the dark and tries to maintain her independence in this new life.
The Professional does earn it’s “erotica” label, the scenes are steamy and graphic. But there is also a great story happening here. The story of a “farmgirl” landing in a new glamorous life is a modern day fairytale – but with a mafia twist! And there are some “shady” characters that Natalie meets, so I am curious to see what happens next.
What I don’t like is that this book is being released in parts (but eventually will be sold as a complete book). I would rather have the entire story instead of having to wait! This is why I rated it 4.5 starts instead of 5! But I still would recommend this book to readers, especially to IAD fans and readers who love a combination of romance and action or mystery!
