She’s his boss. He doesn’t care. This office isn’t big enough for the two of them…
When Rory Clarke ends up hiring the guy she spent one steamy night with to be her administrative assistant, she's determined to keep things professional.
Lucas Blaine has other plans for her. He wants Rory, and it’s hard to resist his stunning blue eyes, chin dimple and the way he fills out a suit. Everywhere she looks, there he is, giving her a panty-melting smile and pulling her away for the most amazing (and satisfying) sex she’s ever had in her life.
What starts off as one sexual encounter turns into multiple trysts in and out of the office and the lines she’d tried to draw so carefully are blurring. But the closer they get, the more Rory realizes that there are things about Lucas she doesn’t know, things he’s hiding from her. She’ll have to decide if she can surrender to her feelings or get out while she still can.
Just one look at the cover and you know this book is going to be hot. And YES it was! This is an adult contemporary romance so there were some hot and steamy scenes, but the story of an office romance mixed with the mysterious life of Lucas Blaine kept me glued to this book. Throughout the story I kept imagining what his real secret was (was he a secret millionaire? did he and Rory meet before?). The story was simple but it was well written and enjoyable.
And the characters were likeable and sexy! Aurora (Rory) Clarke is intelligent and professional, and due to her last failed relationship is more cautious when it comes to men. But that all changes when she meets sexy Lucas Blaine. Lucas is mysterious and aggressive, but he had some sweet qualities (he sings and adores his nieces) so he was irresistible! I also enjoyed the relationship between Rory and her Dad. To the company they were colleagues but behind closed doors they were Father and Daughter. It was nice to see her Dad had respect for her and for what she’s accomplished. Rory’s girlfriends Sloane, Chloe and Marisol were fun and I hope to read more about them.
I also liked that this story had some funny moments, here is an example that had me laughing:
“You need to do what’s best for you, but remember that the needs of the many overpower the needs of the few.” Oh my God. He was using Spock Logic on me and he probably didn’t even know it.
This was the first book I’ve read from this author and I am definitely looking forward to reading more! I highly recommend this book for those looking for a fun and sexy read!
